Qualification/ priority health

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. Currently I have a bmi of 37.3..... but no comorbidities (for gastric sleeve). I have priority health for insurance, and I am wondering if anyone has used any other comorbidities that they don't have listed as a way to get the surgery approved. Any feedback would be awesome. My hands are tied as of right now and could use any help. Thanks so much.

Hi, I didn’t have comorbidities but I had a BMI over 40. I was advised you didn’t have to have any above 40.

Good luck!

Hmmm on top of my GERD I have sleep Apnea, Arthritis since 25 and Venous Stasis and I am 72. Before you and the whole 🌏world count me out, I am stubborn , red-headed and have much going for me. I entered this life shaking my fists and screaming and I doubt if I am going to change now. Let's see who I have outlived? The paternal cousins who suggested I kill myself, the husband who said I couldn't live without him, the high school guidance person who wasn't sure I'd amount to much, maybe I should emulate the other girls in my class and get married, the doctor who said I'd be diabetic by 50 and I still am not, the guys in high school, after high school and into college who thought I wasn't worth dating and dated my best friends instwas to hurt my feelings, the 3 Lesbians in my class who also wouldn't ask me out, well 1 did but she said I was disgustingly straight. And last, and God Forgive me for this, the psychologist who said I was unfit for bariatric surgery and messed up my attempt earlier this year, saw her obit recently. So do you think a RnY surgery will faze me? Might slow me down for a while but I'm going to be triumphant and keep on living, the difference? now I will have a surgical tool to assist me in living better. AND I Will do it with class and grace and someday I TOO will join the Veterans Forum on Bariatric Pal. Think that is a pretty worthy goal.

Ooh Frustr8 i admire your determination to live a better life. You're such an inspiration and motivation to me and so many others. At age 60 i thought I'm too old for WLS. At 62 i said to myself it's now or never. Then i read your posts.....i wish i could give you a hug but you're far away from KS. I put September 5th on my calendar....lol

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
