I just had my vsg surgery on July 10th. I have been feeling super emotional about drinking/eating and I guess I'm writing this post because I just want to not feel alone. It hurts so much to drink that I don't want to drink anything. Everybody around me keeps getting on me about my fluids/protein intake and I know it's because they care about me and my health but it's really starting to get annoying because they don't understand how much pain I'm in. At this point I rather not drink or eat anything all day even though I know it's bad for me. Did anybody else go through this? Please tell me it gets better and that this is just for a while. I'm in tears almost everyday because I'm so frustrated and I'm starting to have negative feelings and regrets about my surgery.

Hey there. I had my sleeve on the 10th also. I am not having much pain with drinking but I am nauseous and threw up the last couple of days. I am pretty emotional too. I feel like no one around me understands what I am going through. I just had a part of me removed and I’ll never eat normally, like the rest of the gang, again. I am sad and even a bit angry. Try to hang in there. If you are at the point where you may become dehydrated please speak with your doctor. I’m here and I’m listening. Keep in touch.

All you can do is your best. Keep pushing yourself when you can but also rest and take care of yourself. Fluids are still my biggest nemesis. So hard to reach my daily goal for fluids. Protein is a little easier because I add the powder to just about anything I drink. It gets better!

It gets better around week 3! Try hot Water or Decaf teas... it helped me when I had that type of pain drinking. (Or alkaline water). I’m at 7 months and had zero pain after month 1 with fluids

Good luck!

Tiny sips was key for me. So small I felt it was absurd. I had surgery on the 12th and by 7 days post op I was almost 100% clear of the pain. Take it easy but don't give up, It will get better.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
