Hi guys and gals,

This is insane! I started my journey at 287, a size 24 pant (that were a little on the tight side.) I had surgery on May 14th at 260. Today, just shy of 4 weeks out I weighed in at 239 (finally broke that damn stall).

Anyways my clothes have literally been FALLING off me. I was just fine until about a week ago. So I went shopping today and grabbed some size 22s. Too big. So I grabbed some 20s. Still too big. So in total awe I grabbed some size 18s and holy mackerel they FIT. I almost died. And I tried on a shirt that was size 14/16 and it fit! I am on cloud 9 right now 😍.

Hope all my fellow May surgery buddies are doing well!

Thanks!!! It was so motivating. I bought new workout clothes and went for an extra long bike as a result. I am so excited. Even though I look in the mirror and don’t *see* a huge difference, climbing into those size 18s did more for me than even dropping below 240 did.

There is no better feeling than skinny. So proud of you! I can not wait to be in your position. That’s a mountain of a difference from less than a month ago. Congratulations!

Good for you! Congratulations.. I am 12 days post op. I got rid of all my 2xl shirts over the weekend. Down 22lbs in 12days and 31lbs since beginning my liver shrink...this is crazy..hopefully I will be allowed to do more exercise than walking soon..really fatigue early but at 53yrs old and eating 650 calories a day, I guess my energy will slowly come around..keep up the good work!

HI!!!

Congrats!! my gastric sleeve is August 1st and I am super nervous. I know my husband will keep me on my diet and following the rules. Are there any tips? I know everyones journey will be different but post op surgery stories gives me hope that I can stick to it.

HI!!!

Congrats!! my gastric sleeve is August 1st and I am super nervous. I know my husband will keep me on my diet and following the rules. Are there any tips? I know everyones journey will be different but post op surgery stories gives me hope that I can stick to it.

My best tips:

1-Sip sip sip sip some more!

2-Stay off the scale for the first couple of weeks. The numbers can be very disheartening. It takes a while to lose all the fluids they put into you in the hospital and it can take a month for the swelling to go down.

3-Try not to compare your results to others. There are so many variables to weight loss: starting weight, metabolism, muscle mass, hormones, gender, etc. You will lose at your own pace and that is the only one that really matters.

4-Take some good "before" pics. You don't need to show them to anyone, but your brain will play tricks on you. You'll need something objective for comparison.

5-If you like to cook now, google bariatric-friendly recipes and try some out so that you've got some go-to meals that you know you'll probably enjoy. If you don't cook, try out various blended Soups available in the grocery store or at local restaurants. liquids is generally the most difficult phase.

6-If you don't plan to tell people about your surgery (entirely up to you) then start laying the ground work now. Let others see you working on your portion sizes/food choices. Let them know you're starting to exercise. Then when the pounds really start to fall off, they won't be shocked and get all concerned that you've got cancer or something!

Good luck and best wishes!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
