Hi everyone. I am new to the site. I am still in pre-op with 1 more appointment to go. I am so excited yet nervous. I am open to any tips on how to succeed in this weight loss journey. I did loose 45lbs alone, so I know I can kick behind post op. God bless you all

So where are you located and where will you have your surgery?
I am in Central Ohio, will have my surgery in July(i think) at the Ohio State University- Wexner Medical Center in Columbus,my state capital 48 miles to the SW. And I will be turning into a Kangaroo, our inside RnY bypass joke, for all kangaroos have pouches and after surgery we do too! I am excited for my REBIRTHDAY to occur!

Good morning Frustr8. I’m from Atlanta, Ga and I’ll be having my surgery at Wellstar Bariatric at Kennestone. I’m having the gastric sleeve done. Lmbo at the pouch joke. We will all have pouches I am guessing lol.

So you are a bono fide Georgia peach. Georgia always seems like Sleepy Time Down South. which,i quite a miss-nomer because Atlanta has become a very happening place. Seems like every, time I turn around. people are flying through Hartsfield-Jackson on their way to somewhere else.😝

Yes indeed @frustr8, born and raised. Lmbo!!! Yes, I am one of the thousands of people flying to go somewhere else 🤣. Some locations are sleepy, boring and slow but I’m right off I-20 and there’s nothing sleepy in this side however, I do wish at times 🤣

What we named is some background music for your surgery.🏥 How about. Gladys Knight and the Pips singing "It's Sleevy Time Down South" as they roll you through those,Magic Doors.😷--🚑--😷

I made sure my emotional issues with food were taken care of, for me this is the most important. I dont crave food after the surgery, and Im never hungry. With the blessing of my dietician I only focus on Water and Protein (10weeks post op) and the focus ends there. I have been obsessive about food since I can remember, so for me it was important to start seeing at fuel instead of that emotional crutch. Good luck on your journey! 😊

@Sallymarina70 I was was an emotional eater as well. My main concern is “How” am I goin to get in my Protein and Water intake if my pouch is small. How did/are you getting your protein in?

Yoghurts with high Protein, shakes, chickpeas and most dairy products is where i get most of my protein. smoothies with dairy products, fruit, juice and flavourless Protein Powder is both hydrating and a good source of protein. I drink flavoured Water, on the days I dont I often fall short on my daily target. 😊

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
