I would like to post on some more private topics in the guys room but the females cannot seem to keep out of it and enjoy butting in, even on posts specifically labeled as male only. PLEASE lock down the gender specific rooms and posts by gender! As we have a gender option on our profiles this should be fairly easy to do and would probably encourage more participation.

AH, well I can understand why they may not want to lock down all posts to only registered users as you probably want to look at the community in general before joining. But in the case single gender rooms they could easily require you to be a registered member AND lock it down by gender of said registered members, which is what I am proposing. They don't have to have all of the sub forums remain open to non-registered users, they can lock down individual rooms.

I think leaving it open is just asking for trolls. If you are serious about WLS, join as a member, you can always delete your account.

I think it is silly to restrict to men and women only. People are people. When you do that you might really be missing out. Don't assume that a woman (or man) might not have insight into your specific topic. We have spouses, siblings, etc that help us gain experience in all sorts of ways.

I agree with you, but I don't want to give unwanted advice or insight. So I'd rather support their decision to be private.

Also, the population of men is dramatically lower than women, so if they get less feedback and support, so be it. *shrugs*

I agree. I won't post there, actually I had not even noticed the gendered groups before now. But I think it is potentially closed minded.

Ultimately, there is nothing I'd post on this forum that I'd neither want, man or woman to see. It is the internet, after all.

And if you have no problem with that then there are all of the other forums, where most people do post their questions when they want that insight. But sometimes people are uncomfortable with discussing intimate details with members of the opposite sex and that is what these spaces are supposed to be for.

I can understand why the forums are open to the general public, it's a marketing tool, aside from that, I wouldn't have found these forum if they were locked down. Some forums have a subforum which is accessible by registered users only, that would be useful.

In the specific instance, the gender rooms could be locked down to members only, plus locked down by gender. I understand that there are specific issues that some people only like to share with their gender and don't want the other gender to read and/or comment on.

In some instances, I would probably share more in a members only sub forum as well as a locked down female forum.

If you "locked them down" people could just change their gender if they wanted to look. Or look at them as unregistered members. Or decide not to list their gender at all.

I dunno...no one's in eighth grade. "Girls Keep Out" and "Boys Keep Out" signs belong on tree forts and angsty middle schooler bedroom doors, in my opinion. just seems weird and offputting for adults to do this in 2018. To me, anyway.

But, clearly some other folks like them. So what do we do?

I do have to wonder what the people who use these kinds of boards will do...when they draw an opposite sex doctor at the emergency room...since..ya know...saying something anatomical within earshot of the opposite gender might cause the world to end. LOL. I also wonder how these folks get married?

Maybe it's a generational thing or a cultural construct that doesn't touch my world....but yeah....this whole boy/girl thing seems bizarre to me.

Would really suck for a transsexual to be denied access to the gender room they most identify with. And what about people who don't experience gender? or all the other variations of folks who don't experience cisnormative gender identity? Big can of civil liberties worms to put your foot in if you're an internet entrepreneur.

I love it, gender fluid is my favorite flavor of this. I identify as a man today and a woman tomorrow, and a demiboy an hour later, and then no gender 3 minutes later but only for 37 seconds!! Fantastic!!

As long as they're buying Bariatric Products at this site....I have a feeling these folks will be treated with respect and consideration. Which is as it should be. And is a good business practice.
