I never had an issue with my blood sugar before surgery but if this is unusual (which I don't know if it is or not) I would take a look at what you are eating. Are you sticking with your diet plan? Are you making sure you are using sugar free foods and avoiding carbs? If you aren't already I would be checking the carb and sugar counts on everything you are eating. If you do find the issue is with your diet you can call up your nutritionist and discuss it with them, they can probably get you a meal plan/list that will work for you.

i was type 2 and insulin dependent before surgery. was really hoping to believe the information that says the surgery would put it into remission, so far no dice. 9 lbs lost, maybe in time it will fade away. any other diabetics out there?

I wouldn’t throw in the towel just yet, your system needs to adjust, 10 days is not very long.

I'm thinking it may be the Atkins shakes. going to skip them for a day or two and see what happens. yesterday after having one, my BG was 330! never had a reading that high before surgery.

Well I have not gone through surgery yet, but my pre op diet my general BS number is 130’ish.

What was your avg reading during your pre op diet phase?

that should of been like a general base line to what your post op will look like for awhile

Pre op I hovered around 150. so it's hard to see numbers over 200. but i'm working on it. and my surgeon encouraged me not to get discouraged. As it turns out the Atkins shakes were not the source, it's likely just the shock of the surgery and the body adjusting. I'm close to being cleared for exercising so that will help too.

My sugar levels went to “normal” range the day after surgery and I haven’t needed the meds since. It’s been almost one month. There has even been a few instances where I had low blood sugar and had to take dex4 pills.

I’m sure you just need to give your body some time. My blood pressure isn’t fully in control yet and I still need meds 20% of the days. Good luck!

Mine took 2days post op to sit at a 90-91 range. But it’s not moved one bit now

I was pre-diabetic before surgery, and am still pre-diabetic 10 months later. My Dr blamed it on genetics. :(

1 month post op - still a bit high. I have an apt with my Endo July 17 - hoping I can at least get OFF insulin, and back on Jardiance. Insulin had me gaining weight for years before surgery. It was the only thing that worked when I needed to lose the pre-op weight. fingers crossed.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
