Trouble with pre op diet

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I am new here:-) my surgery is scheduled for June 7th. My dr just told me to eat low carb week prior and full liquid diet day before. So far I am not doing too well with my low carb but am better than I was🤷🏻‍♀️ Anyone here not follow a strict pre op diet?

What Surgery? Seems you don't need to worry about liver size reduction which is one of the main reasons folks are typically put in pre-surgical diets. I'd really step up your attempts to follow the plan, after surgery not following your plan can and will lead to issues. Speaking from personal experience. Do it right the first time no matter how hard it is... or you'll end up needing a second WLS. I wish I was as strict as I am now back in 2011 and didn't go through cycle after cycle of attempting to "sorta" try to do it and failing... I won't make that mistake twice, WLS isn't cheap enough to treat it like a disposable item.

Get cracking and follow whatever instructions you've been given to a T, it's hard and it sucks, but it gets easier, you just REALLY need to stay focused while you can.

Good Luck!

Thank you. You are very right! I actually had the lapband done in 2004 and it didn’t work for me at all:( I was smaller at that time and then my port got infected and I had the band removed in 2009. I have been yo yo dieting all my life starting from 4th grade when my parents sent me to fat camp😥 All the yo yo dieting made me balloon up to 375 pounds😭I have been struggling with major depression for the past 6 years and Completely lost all my willpower:( when did you have surgery and how are the results?

Just had my Bypass 3/21, down 50 lbs since my pre-surgical check in... Wish I went with the bypass a long time ago!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
