Frustrated scale stall 3 weeks post op VSG

Recommended Posts

I am extremely frustrated of the lack of weight loss since surgery. I have been following the diet per my surgeon and walking 4 to 5 days a week for a 1/2 hour. I have been struggling with Protein and Water to get my daily goals and still on the puréed stage until 4/22. Eating has been a struggle. I know I should not weigh myself daily but it is hard not to. I find myself crying daily because I’m trying so hard. How can I get through his phase without feeling so discouraged? Has this happened to anyone else and how did you work through it?

Please put the scale away
It seems to do more harm that good for you at this point instead try to focus on meeting your nutrition goals and only get weighed at appointments.
I'm finding that mental health is equally as important during this journey

I think you just hit the dreaded three-week stall early. It isn't pleasant. Try to be patient. :)

I'm with Tealael. Put the scale away. I only weigh once a week, and that seems to be good for me. Are you getting your heart rate up when you walk? I started out walking, but I wasn't really getting my heart rate up, so I switched to using cardio equipment, and I know I'm getting my heart rate up now, and that helps with seeing movement in the scale. I know that getting your Water and Protein in is difficult. It still is for me some days (I'm almost 8 weeks post op), but I make myself get the amounts recommended by my physician, which is 64oz of water and 80g of protein daily. If you increase your heart rate while you exercise and you meet your protein and water requirements, I'm sure that the scale will start moving more. Best of luck to you!

I’m also stalled and haven’t lost for two weeks. The NUT said I needed to up my calorie intake to over 700 calories a day. It is a struggle and I guess in my mind I thought the weight would miraculously drop off every day, but it stops while our bodies regroup. You are definitely not alone!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
