Hello everyone I am very new to all this, I actually just started my adventure in seeking surgery, I have my first appointment on May 24, I already received my information in the mail for my doctor and have went to my first appointment with my PCP, for the 6 month diet tracker. I guess I’m reaching out asking for some advice. How did everyone start learning to eat different? How do you manage making a meal for yourself plus meals for my kids, I am a single mom so it can be really hard to make meals that work for all of us. How did everyone deal with the addiction factor of food? I know that’s insane to say it like that but I find myself really having issues with headaches and withdrawal.

One thing to remember about kids.....kids are in the process of forming ideas and preferences about food. Kids will also eat when they get hungry...even if the only things they can find are fuits, veggies, lean meats and dairy... and whole grains.. There is no reason your kids have to eat much differently than you. Teaching them good eating habits is so important to breaking the cycle of obesity in families. Your kids might be fit right now...but they have half of your genetics. There's gonna be a day in the future...when they'll thank you for changing their diet young and helping them build healthy preferences. You don't have to keep junk in the house for your kids. It's not cruel to feed them healthy foods. Junk food is not love. (My mom was huge into feeding us the junk food we loved...to show affection and "give us a childhood"....please don't do this...it's not necessary, and it can set them up for problems down the road.) Also....kids get plenty of special occasions where treats are part of a celebration....they're not cheated by not having them in their everyday diets.

There are dozens of diets you can use. Weight Watchers is a terrific balanced diet and a good place to start if you're new to nutrition and need a lot of tips, advice, and help. Obviously, follow your doctors/dietitian's diet if they give you one.

Wishing you the very best on your weight loss journey:)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
