I hate it when people post just to post.....

Anyway, got new batteries for the scale. Based on what it was weighing me after the new batteries, I'm afraid it's me. Not gonna help that I said f'it and sat down with DH and his wavy lays and a big bowl of green onion dip this afternoon! Dammit! :)

Why can't I stop eating? I'm not even f'ing hungry! I need my f'ing head examined! I want this weight gone so bad and yet I do crap like this and f'it all up! I'm my own worst enemy and I can't figure out how to change it! :)

Sorry for bringing you all down. I'll see you later. Bye.

I would still say that it is probably Water weight or something similar. Our weight fluctuates quite a bit just based on what we have or haven't taken in. I understand your frustrations, but remember how far you have come. You have done an awesome job on your weight loss. You also know that we don't mind you venting. We are here for each other.

PJTP...Ebony's evening edition!:)

Beth-thinking of you and DH today while he has surgery.KC-how is the mouth? I think you mentioned you were having the other side done today? I hope all is well.Ebony-how is the neck?TPG-how is the blood sugar?

Beth - prayers for your hubby and divine guidance for the surgeons...

KC - glad the mouth is better so far...

Slim - my neck is still stiff, but not nearly as bad as yesterday. Even with the heat, I slept on a heating pad last night (turned down really low). Seemed to help - I could turn my head this morning, so off to work I went!

I hate to say this to jinx myself. My tummy is louder today but not as bloated and painful. Loud I can deal with. Painful sucks!!

Hi SuzyT! Welcome to the most fun, hippest board on LBT...sorry to hear about your tummy - hope it's better soon...

TAPS MISS YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

puts it in bold

What LuluC said! MISS YOU TAPS!

2nd day of teeth work - is done - ok so far but was warned I might have issues tomorrow.

Good luck with the teeth - been there, done that!

KC, hope today's dentist trip is not too bad!

What TPG said!

I agree with all the good stuff everyone said today. scales are strange beings. I seem to have lost 3 pounds overnight. Hmmmm. I don't know much about gall bladders so no help there. I also miss Tap. Hope Beth's DH is doing well with his surgery. Slim, Glou, how you doing? Happy Bandiversary to Michelle! Ebony, hope the neck is better!!

Yes - scales are weird...somedays I really hate mine...but we just gotta stand strong. Consistency is our key to success...the neck is better so far...thanks for asking!

The liquid diet is going okay. Still not hungry. Just waiting for the hosp to call and give me my time. Any suggestions, etc. are appreciated. Taking my pillow, e-book, slip-on tennis shoes, Chapstick, etc. I just want to get this over with now. I've been waiting long enough. I wanna be banded like all the cool kids...

We can't wait for you to join us in Bandland! :smile2:

Take care everyone. Hope you all had a great day!

Happy Bandiversary, Heartfire!

I'll come down! Hopefully next June if someone will pick a frickin' date!!!!!! :tongue2:

Let's get the calendar-checking started...what about the second weekend in June - 11, 12, and 13 (Friday to Sunday)? If not then, how about the fourth weekend (25 - 27)?

Not gonna help that I said f'it and sat down with DH and his wavy lays and a big bowl of green onion dip this afternoon! Dammit! :wink2:

I seriously LOVE wavy Lay's...and Original Bugles...they both slide right down, dip or no dip, and taste oh so good...but the FAT CALORIES!

Why can't I stop eating? I'm not even f'ing hungry! I need my f'ing head examined! I want this weight gone so bad and yet I do crap like this and f'it all up! I'm my own worst enemy and I can't figure out how to change it!

Right there with ya, girlfriend...Bugles are a particular bad one for me...and no one sells little bags (120 cal or so) any more. They only have the 400 calorie bags, and you'd think I could just NOT buy them...nope! Plus the salt in them makes me gain weight too...da*n snacks! :)

Sorry for bringing you all down. I'll see you later. Bye.

Don't worry about it, kiddo - we're here to help each other. Sometimes just venting about something will help make it better.

I'm waiting for my 9 pm class to start - got some reading to do, so I'll TTYTomorrow...Have a wonderful night, everyone!

Perhaps...and I say this tenatively...you could slip the commissioner a bribe to see things your way.

Watch out though, "eminent domaign" is a powerful weapon in local governments. Those that rock the boat could find the city condeming and seizing the kitchen table as well, for future expansion.

Plain, you sho didn't get through medical schoolin' based on your spellin'!!!

Does the gall bladder need therapy? (har har har...I crack me up.)

You need comic therapy!!!

Thanks Glouc --

We are still in the diagnosis stage. Today was the collect stool sample day, if the pain gets worse or the samples (took blood too) are not conclusive then we'll move on to an ultrasound.

She also suspects a GI infection. At one point I vaguely recall her saying it won't matter what you eat or what OTC drugs you take, you will continue to have symptoms until we get you on an antibiotic..... But didn't prescribe one yet.

Now I hate stupid junk like that - gimme the antibiotics already! Let's go! (I wanted to say stupid sh!t or stupid crap but yanno, kinda thought it might be a bad play on words considering!)

Well, off to deliver my samples!! Yippee!!

Poop in a bag!

I forgot kc was having her dental work today -- hope you are soon feeling better kc!!

Oh KC's fine and as talkative as ever!!!

sorry - I had began to write this and then realized I was going to be late for my dentist appt if I didn't leave - so here goes again:

suzyt - no one's the same and you can get weird symptoms from something totally different than another person - but usually when I hear gallbladder 'issues' it brings to mind intense pain usually associated with eating fatty/rich foods (like glou was saying). some people do get referred pains up into a shoulder.

although you can get bloating and gas (actually kinda the same thing - bloating comes from being gassy) with some mild gall stones - usually when I hear gassy, bloating and diarrhea - I tend to think something totally different - could be many things but some examples that come to mind: recent change in diet and or Fiber intake, excessive rich foods or dairy in a higher ratio than other foods on a system that's not used to it, high sugar alcohol intake (sugar free foods - most don't bother me but there is one type of sf popsicle that is no good for me), lactose intolerance - can be new onset, varying degrees or different trigger foods, Irritable bowel syndrome, etc - forgot to include infection!

2nd day of teeth work - is done - ok so far but was warned I might have issues tomorrow.

Wow; look at all that information! It's almost like you went to nursing school or something!

i have put in a request - many times & think only ktork took me up on it - for those loving the farming/pet stuff on FB to come to TX., i have the real stuff for ya. i'll supply the beer for tractor/mow riding:)

But farming online is SO much easier!!!

PJTP: Well hell! Got the tires rotated and balance. Yet again! And on top if it they scratched the heck outta the rims! WTH! THEN had the cajones to wonder why DH was mad about it! Yes, we know they weren't brand new and yes, they had a few minor scratches but these were bad enough for DH to notice right away! They had to take the truck back in and polish the scratches out. Didn't do a very good job of it and DH was ticked! Told 'em they lost a customer and we'll be filing a complaint with the head office and I'm thinking maybe with the BBB. This place sucks! :) We've had nothing but problems with them!

But but how do you REALLY feel??? I was thinking you should go to the BBB too. I wasn't sure if they were a chain but I would definitely complain. One, it will help get it off your chest and two, maybe you'll either get them fired or get free stuff!!!

Why can't I stop eating? I'm not even f'ing hungry! I need my f'ing head examined! I want this weight gone so bad and yet I do crap like this and f'it all up! I'm my own worst enemy and I can't figure out how to change it! :)

Girl, when you figure this out, puh-lease let me know b/c I'm right there with you!

I'll let KC take this. I don't have much good advice. The last time I tried to "help" somebody, I got in some legal trouble. Turns out the police don't really like it when you set up a kiosk at the mall advertising "free gynological exams". I mean, I had a privacy curtain.....what's the prob?

Plain - ewwwwww!

Slim - my neck is still stiff, but not nearly as bad as yesterday. Even with the heat, I slept on a heating pad last night (turned down really low). Seemed to help - I could turn my head this morning, so off to work I went!

When my back was so jacked up, my chiro suggested 20 min of ice and 40 minutes off. She said that people often think heating pads but really ice helps the swelling. So that's just a suggestion - couldn't hurt to try, right?

Beth-thinking of you and DH today while he has surgery.

Thank you.

Just got home about 30 minutes ago. Been a long damn day. We left at 10:00 am and I got home just before 10:00 pm.

Surgery was scheduled for 12:30 but they didn't actually get him wheeled to the OR until 3:00 (the surgery prior to his gave the doc a helluva run, apparently). The doc came out and talked to me post-surgery about 5:00, and by the time they called me to tell me where they had moved him, it was 6:30. By the time I left, it was just after 8:00. THEN I had to find my car. The area we enter the hospital from has free valet parking, but I forgot they quit at 8:00. So... I see a sign that says if you are trying to retrieve your car after 8:00, you have to go to security. Which I have NO idea where it is... So I walk all the way around the hospital (I saw signs showing where it was -- by emergency), and when I come outside, it's a stone's throw away from where I had been. :) Guess I got my walking in!

Anyway, I'm just now eating some egg salad and a vinegar Pasta salad I bought at Giant. I really hate eating this late, but my FIRST meal of the day wasn't until 3:30 because of all the screw-up on time.

So hubby has found the morphine pump -- and hits it about every 30 seconds. Mind you, it will only dispense about every 8 minutes, but he keeps doing it anyway. The nurse had walked out right as I came in and, when she came back, told him he can't get it to respond as often as he hits it and said that she had been gone maybe five minutes and he had hit the button 17 times. LOL

The good news is that for tonight, he is THEIR problem, not mine. :)

Sorry for bringing you all down. I'll see you later. Bye.

First of all, HAPPY BANDIVERSARY!

Next, you are not bringing anybody down. And you are NOT alone. Why do you think I'm seeing an eating disorder specialist? I still at times turn to the bad side when stressed (as I sit here with my Ben and Jerry's while writing this... :tongue2:).

I just noticed -- you said you're eating chips. I don't know about you, but I have severe Water retention with salt. I mean, I could gain five pounds overnight after chips or Chinese food. Is that a somewhat common occurrence? If so, maybe you too react quickly (and badly) to salt. Just something to think about...

Anyway, you will make it through this. And if you feel you need it, find some additional help. I keep telling people that the band only helps with part of the problem -- but it most certainly does not do anything for our heads.

Nobody's quite like plain, eerily or otherwise.

You're just a straight lurker. He likes to jump out from behind stationary objects with his trench coat open. There's a HUGE difference.

Beth~ Glad the surgery went well and DH has his pain meds! You need to get some rest! I always find it so exhausting to sit and wait at the hospital - stressful, as evidenced by the Ben & Jerry's!

KC~ Sounds like all went well!

Michelle~ Happy Bandiversary! That is the pits about the truck! I second, or third, the BBB, it takes it off your chest and you will feel like you did something about it. Don't worry about the vent. I am a crunchy/salt craver with stress too! It is hard - nobody said it would be easy. I agree with Beth, your weight could be related to the salt - I will retain Water with the slightest hint of salt. Don't be too hard on yourself - think of all that you have gained this past year!!:tongue2:

Lu~ I would drive the tractor and would love to mow - ah, it would be heaven! I am kind of a dork that way. I head out on our little baby lawn tractor, crank up the tunes and mow - peace, quiet (aside from the mower) and no interruptions!

Plain~ Mall kiosik for your gyno station, nice, you would be strategically stationed to reach your target market, or would that be touch your target market??:) Ewww!

Ebony~ Hope the neck is better and you get some sleep tonight! A message may be in order!

Suzyt~ stop lurking and join in! Hope you get some answers from your ultrasound and you get to feeling better!

PJTP: I had too much stress when I went into school today. So not ready for summer to end!!! I need to wrap my head around work and get in and get busy - trying not to eat when I feel this way. I did have a scoop of ice cream tonight - now I need to get over it and move on. Ice cream is deadly for me, absolutely love the stuff.:)

Hi kids! How's everyone this evening? I have news: The pre-op diet is over. I'm not having surgery on Thurs. There are some issues with my doc's office. The kind that require my attorney and the Board of Healing Arts :). I'll give more details as I can but I gotta get the ducks in a row first. I'm really upset and disappointed and furious. I could have eaten and had wine at the b'day party. No, I had no cake, no crab rangoon dip...crap. I'm just lucky that my Dad has 2 b'days so you can bet your bottom dollar that there will be cake on Sunday! I really don't even care though. :)

Hope all of you are well, and ditto kids, hubbies, pets, etc. Take care and TTFN,

TPG

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
