2 wk preop liquid diet, I cheated question.

Recommended Posts

I was doing so well w/ 2 week preop liquid diet, I've lost over 10lbs so far & following it to a T. I've been having 2 shakes a day & 4oz of lean meat & sm salad &/or celery & carrots for dinner. Well today I had 1 Protein Shake for Breakfast then went to Red Lobster & had Lobsterfest Surf & turf w/ garden salad. The steak was 6oz & I did dip my lobster a few times in butter but my biggest mistake was I ate the mashed potatoes. I've got 5 days til surgery... I feel so guilty now of course. How can I rectify this situation? laxatives? Make my myself throw up? Drink Mag. Citrate? Or do u think I'll be ok?

Dunno. You're probably gonna be ok? But I would tend to call my doc or RD and ask?

Don’t worry about it, if you’ve lost 10 pounds on the prop diet you will be fine.

Just make sure you stay on track the rest of the days. You want your liver to shrink as much as possible.

I certainly can't speak for everyone, but I followed the pre-op diet pretty loosely. If I had the willpower to stick to liquids for two weeks prior to this surgery, I wouldn't have needed the surgery to begin with. I cut out soda and a lot of sugars and still managed to lose around 20 lbs. Just don't make a habit of eating big meals out and you should be just fine.

I'm having surgery tomorrow! I "cheated" on my pre-op diet by having a hard boiled egg every day in addition to Protein Shakes and the other liquids. I also had a bite here and there of chicken or a couple shrimp from the meals prepared for the rest of the family. My 'cheating' consisted of Protein Bites, that's it. I don't feel guilty lol - but my family sure act like the police around here. "Hey you're not supposed to have that!" Geesh. Did not cheat on anything else. Had absolutely no sugar, soda, etc. I think I did pretty good. Have lost 8 pounds.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
