Hunger returns??

Recommended Posts

So I noticed my hunger returns at night. It's not intense so I wonder if the feeling is all in my head. Anyway, even if the hunger does actually return, the surgery had done its part and it will be up to me to adapt, improvise, and overcome.

I didn't feel hunger at all for the first few weeks, but I've noticed that over the last two weeks or so, I'll occasionally (maybe 2-3 times per week) actually feel hunger rather than thinking that I do (or thinking that I *should*). It's not quite the same as pre-op hunger, either. Not sure how to describe it, but the sensation is different.

Yes, the sensation is indeed quite a bit different. It feels like hunger but it's mild and not intolerable in the least.

I get hungry--later in the day--but there are several mitigating factors. One, I get full after a fairly small amount of food, and two, I just use it as an opportunity to get more Protein in! Tonight's "indulgence" is cottage cheese and cantaloupe. Don't think eating that is going to cause any guilt!

Yes. Mine has returned. But as you guys have said, it's not an intense, FEED ME SEYMOUR! type of hunger right now? But then again, we're most of us newbs still eating <500cals/day. So yeah...it figures that we would be hungry at some point. Right?

I think this is what is referred to as "head hunger" not actual hunger.

I have not experienced actual hunger - like my stomach growling kind of depleted feeling. For the most part I feel full all the time (probably the 55 gallons of Water I'm drinking!) <------ exaggeration of course :)

The only time I "thought" I was hungry was when I prepared dinner for my son and husband and the recipe called for carmelizing onions in oil with some sugar - the smell was out of this world! I snuck a burnt piece of the caremlized onion and chewed on it for awhile - and it did taste good I must admit. But I wasn't tempted to just eat and eat and eat.

Many people say this is the "honeymoon period" - I don't view it that way. I honestly view it as the time to equip ourselves to combat temptations when they do come - say 8-10 months down the road. To say not "no" - but "hell no!" I've come too far and worked too hard to let that <fill in the temptation blank> derail my progress.

I'll eat some lean Proteins, followed by some good carb/fibers, drink my water 30 minutes later and go for a run instead.

PS - how do you get those cute tickers in your signature line? I want one!

Not at the PC but if I remember correctly top right hand you can click on your name (or my profile or something like that) and should see a "my tickers" option.

Thanks! I was able to figure it out once I logged in from a computer. Apparently on the mobile ap you are very limited in what you can and can't do.

Thanks for the follow-up!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
