I just spoke with a nurse that UHC assigned me. She said I would have to see a NUT 6 times before I am approved for surgery but I could go back 2 years. I'm not sure I understand that. I went to a weight loss clinic a couple times and she said that would count. Does this sound right?

It wouldn't hurt to call UHC and find out. Most people my self included had to go to the nutritionist six times during the process.

Yes. As long as you have 6 consecutive months of weight management appointments within the last 2 years you should be good.

I’m going through that right now. My surgeon was so confident in my case and history they scheduled my surgery while we waited for approval. Well got the call today it was denied simply because in my 6 months of my appointments the doc didn’t dictate “weight management” in the notes they won’t approve it. So they are working on it but I may have to do it again. Which sucks. My surgery was in a week and a half and to have this pop up is super stressful.

Im UHC and my doctor’s office handled all of that. I recommend first finding a doctor that works with UHC then they will take care of things.

Until your post, I didn’t realize that I was supposed to meet with a NUT six times, rather I had to come into my doctor’s once a month for 6 consecutive months for weighins before we could submit my claim to insurance.

To my understanding your personal Dr can be counted as some of your 6 month visits as long as they fill out the necessary paperwork. That is what the nurse told me. Also I had went to a weight loss clinic last year and that will count as a visit also. Just have to get the paperwork filled out. It's all so confusing.

Is this what they told you?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
