Hi guys,

I'm new here, but an old bandster (with a long and unproductive story that I won't go into here).

Anyhoo, I'm 'rebooting' my lapband so to speak, and got a fill up to 9ml. I am now having to be pretty careful about what I eat and I am struggling with the size of the Metformin pill. It's not the extended-release version just the regular one which I have to take twice a day. The package says don't chew but I am chewing - do other people have to do that too or can they swallow the Metformin whole despite the lapband?

Just curious

Rachel

Hi Rachel, I was on Metformin when I was first banded also. My family doctor changed it to a liquid Metformin which is called Riomet. It was soooo much easier and if you keep it in the refrigerator, it helps with the taste. I'm blessed to say I've been off medication for 18 months due to the weight loss. I was at 224 lost down to 164 but had a total unfill and gained 30 lbs! So getting myself back on track so I don't have to go back on medicine.

We CAN do this!

I cut mine in half with a pill cutter. I was off of Metformin for a while because of successful weight loss, but I started taking it again because I believe that it helps control my cravings. Sometimes when I am in a hurry I try to take the whole thing but I always end up PBing back up! Yum!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
