Hi all! I posted this in the general forum as well, but since I’m going for VSG I figured it wouldn’t hurt to have it here as well.

I just wanted to introduce myself. I’ve been on the forums in the past to read all I can about the VSG surgery. Tons of great info here. I had the lap band placed on 2008 and finally had it removed last year because of a lot of complications. Now I am on the journey to VSG. Truthfully I should had had the revision when I had the band taken out, but the surgeon was against it. Now I am tracking my weight with my Dr. to fulfill the 6 month requirement for my insurance. My goal is to have the surgery sometime in July since that’s the timeline for the insurance, but we’ll see. Im sure there are others going through this same timeline so if your looking for support count me in.

That darn LAP BAND worked it unMAGIC on so many!!! My hubby had his 13 years and lost around 100#'s he still had lots more to lose. Finally it malfunctioned and was removed Sept 2013. Almost killed him for sure. He had the SLEEVE on June 6th 2016. He has lost a total of 300#'s total. With the Sleeve he doen't always stick to his program and does a lot of ups and downs. Good Luck on your journey. I look forward to following your Weight Loss. Again Welcome

Wow that’s encouraging to see his continued weight loss after the band. I was pretty successful with it until the complications happened. That’s why I think I’ll do well with VSG. Does he think it’s similar?

Hi Balrog.

I'm Joanna. Nice to meet you

Don't feel bad. The lapband is a nightmare. I've heard zero people say they are happy still with their lapband. Had a girlfriend who had it and she lost minimal weight..

I think people got it because it was much safer than the gastric bypass, but at what cost?

hardly any weight lossa nd a dang foreign body in you- for life. Not to mention appointments to adjust it

You will be so excited to have this done. I'm not extremely happy with my weight loss. But I know I wouldnt be where I am without having the surgery

Just a run through

I began preop diet on Nov 27 and at that time weighed 344. Two weeks later exactly, surgery date I was 321 (Dec 11) 2017..

The weight loss has really slowed down but I am going to the YMCA all the time too

Anyways, today I am 290. I was 287, but I gained three pounds this last week. Had my daughters over. Back on track now, I assure you lol

Anyways, again, Welcome

He was and still is, kind of disappointed because he couldn't t get the RNY done. But he does think the SLEEVE way by far better than the Lap Band. He had so much scar tissue from the band and then he became so sick after they removed his band. He had abscesses bad!! He almost died it took him 10 months to heal. Not good for sure. I can't tell you how grateful we are to the Surgeon here in Roseburg that took him on as a patient after his orginal DR waisted all those months giving him different antibiotics.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
