Is the second date the one?

Recommended Posts

I was originally scheduled for surgery December 22nd of last year. It was denied at the last minute.

I have a rescheduled tentative date for March 14th 2018. I am more hopeful. The plan is for the VSG. I should find out this week for sure if it'll happen then.

The reason I was denied? My a1c was deemed to good(6.1%) and my other numbers were not bad enough. Despite the fact that I weigh 330 -/+ at any given time AND i've been that weight for a few years. I have tried in vain to lose weight. Well thanks to a few reasons(medication change and holiday eating) my a1c jumped to 7.2%. My blood pressure measures fairly high when I visit the surgeon. He, along with my other medical folks, were shocked I was denied. I think of it this way...I got the short straw that day. I was very upset but I do believe things happen, or not, for a reason. My surgeon really has fought for me to get approval, he and his staff have been really great.

I just wanted to say hello again!

That’s just weird! The surgeon wants your A1C be,ow 7 so they know your diabetes is controlled and you won’t have complications from the surgery with healing. That was a requirement from my surgeon. Luckily mine has been below 7 for about 4 years.

The good news is, I had my A1C checked as part of my annual physical and it fell from 6.2 to 5.2. My primary was “thrilled” (his words) and took me off the Janumet. No more diabetes meds at all! So you have that to look forward to.

Wow, that's awesome! Congrats!

My a1c is usually around 6.1-6.3 I was so bummed about it going up but it lit a fire for me.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
