Considering getting a gastric sleeve after lapband

Recommended Posts

After having a lapband for 8years about a mouth ago I had to have it removed due to slipping. Now that I don't have it i have try hard to keep my weight off in fact im scared to even weigh myself. So on this coming Tuesday I'm going back to my doctor and talk about getting the sleeve. I just have a question that I hope someone can answer. I already have two children and I most definitely want to have 1 more with me getting the sleeve would that be impossible? I would love to hear any successful or unsuccessful stories from people who have had the gastric sleeve and what I can expect 8 years is a long time and things have changed so much with weight loss surgery.

You can definitely have another baby. But you have to wait 18 months before getting pregnant after surgery. There are a few other considerations, too. I remember reading an article..

I too had the lapband for 6 years and was very successful!(123lbs) after having my 1st baby, It slipped and when I had it removed, my surgeon did the sleeve surgery at the same time. I also wanted a second baby and was told to try to wait 6 months. Later, I was told by my Doctor to wait two months since I really wasn’t very big(176lbs.) I think they suggest waiting for weight loss purposes, not for health purposes. But I’m not really sure. I’m 3 month post op(168lbs) and I’m just letting whatever happens happen at this point in terms of pregnancy. The weight is coming off way slower now than it did when I had the band! 😩 I really miss my band!

I had my lap band for nine years before it slipped and had to be removed last year. I had lost 80 lbs, but I gained weight after the band bit the dust. I was really worried about gaining it all back, so I had my VSG surgery last week (2/14). So far so good - I’ve lost 12 lbs. I’m relieved to have the restriction back...

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
