Recommended Posts

Hi all, I’m currently wondering if anyone knows how much sugar we should be minding post op when it comes to yogurt ? I don’t see doc till Tuesday and hoping to get an appt with the NUT for questions like this. Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge.

My favorite has always been the Greek whips 100 cal , 9g Protein but 12g sugar

Is it the surgery that is giving you second thoughts, or the lifestyle?

My nutritionist gave directions for fat free & sugar free everything for full liquid diet. Then NSA (no sugar added) after that in pureed diet. I think the real key is the No Sugar Added (NSA).

For yogurt she highly recommend a blended greek yogurt with no chunks like the Oikos Triple Zero. It has 0 added sugar, 0 artificial sweetners & 0% fat. I found at least 4 of the flavors I liked. The Oikos 000 has 120 calories, 15g Protein, 6g sugar, 14g total carbs. Chucks are fine after you get passed the pureed stage.

One other thing, They told me to focus on the protein, carbs and liquid intake. The carbs would cover the sugar since it would be a big driver of carbs.

The surgery I’m not too concerned about. It’s more of the lifestyle.

Awesome thank you I’m going to go to the store and look for these. Do you know from what you’ve tried if the strawberry has chunks or not?

I have tried 7 or 8 of the flavors, and none of them including strawberry had any chunks. I don't any of the 000 do.

You are swollen still from 1. Just having had major surgery 2. You had tubing in your trachea to assist with your breathing while unconscious. 3.you had an endoscopy tube down your esophagus and into your stomach to help size your sleeve properly 4. You had been NPO since midnight the night before? Your throat might have been as dry as the Kalahari Desert. Even with a lot of lubrication things might have scraped a little going,in and when they were removed. Hey it should rapidly get better day by day, you'll soon be fine and able to smile about this chapter in your journey.

Hey Losingit you will be fine just stay positive. My only really rough day was right after surgery and that night in hospital. I had lot of pain and discomfort but they say a lot from air I guess they pump in during surgery. Next full day I was 100% better just real tired and little pain but well worth the trip! Keep the faith!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
