Post-op and miserable

Recommended Posts

I’m down 9 since surgery. 25 down since pre op. And i hope it gets better. Last night i started feeling better but woke up this morning miserable. I think everything is just hitting me at once. Thank you for your support

I'm 4 days out and am hating my life. I have the same issues you're having, I'm walking a lot around the house, still no BW, but I've been taking the chewable gas-x and it seems to help with the gas pain! Ask your doctor, i don't see a reason why they'd be against it

My Dr told me pre surgery to get something for gas. So I have gas x and Prevacin. the prevacin is a life saver. Walking certainly helps but the prevacin got rid of the horrible pain under my breast bone, which ultimately was gas or indigestion!

Im at the end of week 4 and saw Dr on Tuesday. He told me to eat food! Which was good because I had been hungry and the Protein Drinks only last so long. Im Eating, it’s going slow, but it’s nice to have real food! He said I may not be able to eat some things I used to eat....he was right! I can tolerate coffee but not a full cup. I’m also supplementing food with Protein drinks until I get the whole food thing down.

constipation....get some Phillips milk of magnesia. The book he gave me said to dilute it a bit with Water. You’re almost as far as I am so u should be able to take a small dose now. He said our stomachs are healed at 3 weeks. I’m still being careful but you should feel ok about taking a pill or something for Constipation. If yI u can tolerate sweet potato eat a little. It will help you go to the bathroom. You may have some gas (not abdominal pain if you know what I mean) but it helped me go. Also get some Miralax and put t in your hot tea or coffee. That helped me a lot!

Everyone is different and some things work for some and not for others. I hope the tips help you feel better! Just think in 6 months we will all be healthier and feel better!

cheers!

Be careful that you are not pushing yourself too hard around the house. I am 5 weeks post- op and I remember the days I tried to do a little extra and regretted it the next day. One way that I helped relieve the gas pains was with a heating pad. I had pain on my left shoulder and chest and I would lay a heating pad or hot water bottle there. It helped a bunch. I hope you feel better and remember you just had major surgery and to ask for help!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
