Is anyone from the UK?

Just wondering if there's anyone from the UK? I'm interested in what Protein Shakes and Vitamins you're all using? The BariatricPal Store seems to only really cater for the USA - the shipping costs a fortune! So, what are you guys using?

Fab! Congrats on your surgery! You feeling ok?

I'm a Scot living in Yorkshire. Lived in Anfield for a bit when I worked in Liverpool (2011-2012 ish).

I've been using PhD Diet whey and Centrum chewable vits.

I only ordered vanilla originally so I have had to order more as the same taste for every meal of every day is making me LOATHE it. I didn't realise the first sip I took would be the best it ever tasted. Can't wait til my mint choc chip and cherry bakewell powders arrive.

What about you? x

Nice to meet you - my name is Natalie and I’ve not been told that I have to have Protein Shakes by my dietician - but she did say that if I was struggling to get my Protein up to have Marvel milk powder in a glass of milk. I must admit getting protein in me is pretty tough at the mo x

As for Vitamins - I’m on chewable Adcal and Centrum chewable Multivitamins twice a day.

when was your op? X

My op was the 12th. :)

What's your post op diet like then? I'm on liquids-only for a minimum of 2 weeks then I gradually move to pureed food for a few weeks then soft then normal consistency stuff. I'm only having Protein Shakes, strained/sieved Soup and the occasional Bovril at the moment. I am only drinking Water and Decaf coffee. It's all very dull.

Were you prescribed Adcal? I'm only taking the chewable Centrum but it doesn't have Calcium in it so maybe I should look into getting some... eeek!

I had mine on the 15th and I went straight to puréed foods for 4 weeks before 4 weeks of soft foods. I was prescribed Adcal by my surgeon to take with the Vitamins and I’m also on another daily pill for my stomach as well as Fragmin anti clotting injections for a month x

its been a horrendous week I’m not going to lie - hoping I’m on the up now x

how you feeling? X

Oh yeah I have omeprazole orodispersable tabs for my stomach and had to do heparin injections for a week at home. Glad it's over! A month must be a nightmare. Are you doing your own or is someone popping out to you each day?

I'm a wee bit jealous for your pureed foods!! I have been craving real food so bad but I know I couldn't actually manage to eat it yet. This must be "head hunger" that people talk about. I'm still enjoying cooking for my kids though.

What sort of things are you having pureed? I was thinking mince n tatties with carrots maybe a good place to start? Not sure if that's just wishful thinking though LOL!

I've been really lucky - healing up well and feeling positive. The gas is just about cleared now thank god! It was pretty unpleasant. I have some stitches in one of my incision sites but the rest look like they'll be pretty invisible when they've healed :) x

It’s for a month and I’m doing it myself! They’re vile hahaha!

pureed foods are not too bad - Weetabix and Ready Brek are godsends, as are Soups. Pureeing meats are less successful- they just don’t go down with adding Fluid like gravy. Potato’s and carrots/turnips are good too - but the consistency is just so ‘baby food’ like it’s so samey that I’m desperate for texture! Roll on three weeks 😊 Fish in sauce whizzes down pretty well x

my staples are are getting removed on Thursday and my stomach is still pretty much purple in colour. Bruising is shocking! Still swollen and haven’t managed to go to the loo yet either (sorry if I’m oversharing)

Don’t think I’ll be back in work after two weeks which is what I hoped originally x

You've given me some good ideas for puréed stage. Do you think bombay potatoes would be good? Looks like I'll have to wait for my mince though!

I went to the loo on the 3rd day then nothing happened for about 5 days and now I seem to be pretty regular. Think my system has started to adjust. Maybe try puréed allbran?

I told work I'd be back in a fortnight then was surprised when the doc gave me a 6 week line. Think I'll actually need the six weeks in reality just wasn't expecting it xx

Don't knock it but I think asdas own Protein Shakes work just fine. For me any chocolate, strawberry or latte shakes just all end up tasting the same as each other.

Hi, I'm from Devon- had my bypass in Taunton on 6th Feb. I used Pulsin whey Protein (the high powered one). Tastes just like powdered milk, and can be a bit tricky to dissolve, but packs 9g of protein per tablespoon.

Am struggling to drink and eat enough at the moment- following the guidelines not to drink within 1 hour of eating, or eat within 1/2 hour of drinking doesn't leave enough hours in the day- especially if eating 5 small means :(

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
