Only 4 Days Post Op & 1 Goal Already Met

Recommended Posts

I was diagnosed with metabolic syndrome a year ago. When writing down my reasons for wanting weight loss surgery, one of them was to bring my fasting blood sugar down to a healthier range (it's typically over 200!) I fully expected this to take weeks, if not months. Well, today, only 4 days post op, my fasting blood sugar was 89! That's normal, non-diabetic levels! What are some of your health-related post-op goals?

That's great!!! That was my main reason for surgery. I was insulin dependent, with high doses. I've been off insulin since leaving the hospital. Surgery was 2 months ago.

Yeah! I thought it was weird my surgeon told me to stop taking my meds as soon as I got home (metformin and victoza) but I had no idea how much the surgery would change nor how quickly it would do it.

Congrats! I know that is a wonderful feeling. I can't wait to leave my blood pressure meds behind. My bottom number likes to stay very high and it has been very hard to control. I know from experience it's best controlled with weight loss so I'm excited for surgery.

That's amazing. I have type 2 (insulin dependent) and I figured over time I'd come off, no idea it happened that fast. Congratulations!

I too have had Metabolic Syndrome for several years. I am 2 weeks post op and will do my blood work for my 2 month appointment. Can’t wait to see how the numbers change. My doctor did take me off my blood pressure medicine the day before surgery and yesterday at my 2 week appointment it was the best it’s ever been. Totally in the normal range .

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
