PERIOD OUT OF CONTROL

Recommended Posts

I’m 3wks post op from the bypass. Everything was going to great. No dumping. Just getting back in the swing of things...My period has been so far 13 days extremely heavy with clotting (sorry for the details). I’m feeling weak and always tired.

I’ve stopped taking the blood thinner as per my surgeon. I spoke to my OB. She says with rapid weight loss it can cause lengthy menses and my hormones are out of whack. She wants to do a PG test!!!! I’m for sure I wasn’t pregnant prior to surgery. That was checked a few times prior. She also would like to do an ultrasound and some other workup. Suggesting birth control! I’m not against it but it wasn’t something I wanted to then hv to get it removed and the process of trying to conceive after a yr post op

Please can anyone help with their experiences...

I struggle with a heavy flow (TMI to some idc). When it's that time of the month for me, I take ibuprofen. I hated the side effects of birth control and while I still have my hormones go out of whack and get insanely emotional or crazy during this time of the month, taking ibuprofen daily helped slow things down for me dramatically. Oh and buy overnight "ultra" tampons for the first few days that it's the heaviest. Good luck! It's a really hard thing to deal with, I know! @TheNewGiGi

I struggle with it as well and I'm 7 almost 8 weeks out. I'm not used to having my period monthly because the birth control I'm on stopped my period for 3 months and during the 3rd month I would get it for like 2-3 days so this monthly period I am not used to! And definitely not used to these cramps and bad headaches. Hopefully starting my birth control again will help get back to normal. But I understand your struggle. I hope it gets better for you!!

I was beginning to question the competence of my doctors...lol it’s my nerves. I’ve never used tampons lol. I’ve tried them but it’s just not for me lol omg thank you so much for responding I was beginning to cry thinking that this was the worse decision I’ve made in my freaking life! [emoji1488] still on the road to healthy!

I'm 3yrs post op. I bleed so heavy at first, that my doctor sent me to a specialist at Cleveland Clinic to see what was going on. They did All kinds of test. Bottom line was that they said that my body was regulating itself back to normal after being over weight for so long.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed but from the other ladies responses, it happens. It’s a part of the process of ur body normalizing.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
