YES!

I'm one day ahead of you (sleeved 2/12), and yesterday morning I got up sore and tired having not slept. But as the day went on I felt stronger and stronger. I was mostly pain free, except while moving around. And I was able to get my Protein in, which seemed impossible the day prior.

It does! Is the pain more gas related?

Congratulations on your surgeries, Now on with the business of healing, small sips of fluids, try to walk if you can, every day will be less discomfort and pain, get your rest and take care of yourself, you've just had major surgery and if anyone deserves a little pampering , its YOU. Yes thank you!! I'm working on getting through one Protein Shake throughout today, although the paperwork says i should have two a day
Hopefully tomorrow i can aim for 2 shakes
Still taking pain medicine every 4 hours, because why not keep myself more comfortable? :)

I do think it is mostly gas and some incision pain

I'm trying to walk about 10min every hour or so, but I'm considering trying Gas-x to help with this.
I'm supposed to be taking in 1-2 ounces every 20 min, so 3 servings per hour , but I'm doing only about 2 servings an hour because it takes me nearly 20 min to drink 1 ounce

Same yesterday I woke up and was like what the hell did I just do to myself. Today I feel so much better. Trying to get all the air and gas out! How are you doing are you getting your liquids down okay?

Hahaha I definitely thought that same thing!! I had my surgery yesterday. Gas pains were horrible but I feel much better today. I seem to keep feeling better after every nap. Liquids are tough but I’m doing ok keeping them down now. Now so much yesterday. I haven’t attempted my Protein Shake yet. Only thing I’ve had other than Water is a sugar free popscicle. I’m going to start my Protein and Jello tomorrow I guess

Hello, I a new to the group. My surgery was February 8. I was supposed to be home on Saturday 10th but had some complications. I was in until Monday the 12 and at first was definitely having the regrets. But now, I just entered stage two of the recovery food and I am feeling much better. Still take pepcid very morning but that is the only meds I am on. The reflux has subsided as with the nausea. I am now down 20 pounds since the beginning of this journey. I lost about 7 pounds preop and 12.6 since the surgery which was a week ago today. I am very happy now but have some concerns about the diet for week two. Does anyone have any helpful hints? For example, when its low fat creamed Soups, what brands do you eat? Have you eaten halo top ice cream for the soft foods? HELP!

Just to put it out there I have found two clear Liquid Protein drinks.. they taste really good and as long as I’m drinking those it gets my fluids in too! One is protein2o with lots of good flavors and great premium clear Protein Drink which comes in fruit punch..both can be bought at sams club!

Hi! Congrats on your surgery and your weight loss so far! My date was 2/6 so I’m just a few days ahead of you. I just got to full liquids on Tuesday. So far I’ve been sticking with low-fat Tomato Soup and cream of chicken Soup along with the Oikos triple zero Greek yogurts, cottage cheese, and cream of wheat. For Snacks I’ve got Jello, pudding, or popsicles (all sugar free). I’m going to steer clear of any “treat” foods (like ice cream” for as long as possible. The post-op liquid diet is boring and repetitive, but it’s for such a short time. And our stomachs need boring right now to heal properly.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
