I recently learned that my surgical group hosts a formal event twice a year...that is sort of like a prom for the patients. You get invited a year post surgery, and you submit before and after pics for a slide show. Everyone has to wear formal dresses and tuxes, you bring your spouse/support person...and you do a catwalk showing off your new body. LOL! They have a catered dinner (delicious and sensible) and dancing, a photographer...etc.

At first, I thought this was incredibly silly...but the more I thought about it, the more it sounded like fun. I'm definitely going to go when i'm a year post-op!

Does anyone else get The Weight Loss Prom as part of their group's support?

Not sure if mine does that, probably not since it's technically open to anyone.

I'm actually kind of excited about it. I've never seen my husband in a Tux, and he says he'll wear one:) For our wedding 25 years ago, we were all Bohemian...he wore a billowy white shirt and tall boots, and I wore a crocheted sun dress. So social formal thingies....are not our norm, to say the least! Should be fun. I will post pix:)

What a great idea and a lot of fun. Wished my group did something similar, it's a great way to celebrate yourselves after a lot of very hard work.

We need a bariatric pal gathering :-)

My program doesn't have one but that sounds like so much fun and an excellent way of celebrating your hard work.

Ours has one once a year, in December I think! haha!
