Question: Why do you think your hunger is fake?

I had this as well when my reflux meds ran out at about 6 weeks and I didn't renew the script. It wasn't until I told the nurse that I would get really hungry every 3 hours that she told me I shouldn't be so soon after the sleeve. Back on meds and it is much better but not completely gone I have been wondering if I should top up with chewable when I get the feeling or increase the nexium.

Because I experienced this before surgery when I had eaten a lot. It happens now too when I have eaten.

How is your GERD hunger different from regular hunger? I am on meds twice a day, so I really don't think my hunger is GERD, but I am hungry all the damn time and it's making be irritable and generally crazy. I can't imagine it's GERD hunger and I know it's not head hunger. I thought after surgery, you aren't supposed to feel hunger. Guess I'm just lucky.

I'm post surgery, and I'm hungry all the damned time. LOL. Tummy isn't growling, but I feel that kinda light headed pokey feeling when my blood sugar gets low, and I get kinda headachy. It's definitely hunger...cause I eat and it goes away. Just nice that 4 ounces does the trick now:)

Yes! I totally had this problem at first (sleeved 12/7). I don't know what made it calm the heck down, because I didn't change my meds, but by one week out, maybe a week and a half, I wasn't hungry all the time just some of the time. Maybe my stomach acid just needed time to chill. The PA at my surgeon's office told me GERD hunger is definitely real, though.

I thought so too! Then I had the surgery, and turns out even after my GERD settled back down, I'm still hungry. Right now I think it may have to do with the liquid diet. Maybe once "real" foods are back in my diet it'll get better. Hope it gets better for you, too!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
