Hi all - I'd love to hear your experience with spicy foods post sleeve. I've read that merely by the stomach being smaller, spicy foods will always cause heartburn.

True for you?

Full disclosure: I'm banded now, going in for revision 12/18, LOVE spicy food.

Thanks!

I use to put Sriracha on everything. Some spicy mayo on my sushi and wasabi. I loved spicy food. Key word is loved as in past tense. Now I can't stand spicy food but then again even drinking Water gives me heartburn. So that's my story but everyone is different. You could still eat spicy food after your procedure and be fine. No me. R.i.p Sriracha sauce with my Vietnamese fries [emoji24]

Wow - that sucks. Are you on medication to control it?

I take zantac and it helps some but I may need a something prescribed that's a little bit stronger.

I'm only 11 days out so not a ton of experience, but I've been putting hot sauce on all the bland foods I'm allowed in this phase, lol. So far, so good. Also have no problem w/the broth from spicy Soups like tortilla Soup and chili.

I love spicy food too and I’ve always eaten after my surgery (once I could eat that is) but these days it seems to be troubling me a lot. I get gas and heartburn. Not sure if it’s surgery related or just old age!! [emoji17]

I am 2 months post and spicy food doesn’t bother me at all. I get heartburn almost like clockwork in the morn about an hour after I wake up afternoon between 1 and 2 and at night around 7. Doesn’t matter what I eat so I know it’s not spice related.

no issues with spicy foods. liked them before and depend on them now to get as much flavor from the small portions as i can get. I have said it before, If i can only get a few bites of food in i make sure they are best tasting most flavorful few bites that exist. i dont do bland food at all.

I’m four months out and haven’t found any foods that I can’t tolerate. (Knock on wood) I just had a bunch of kimchi cucumbers that were super spicy and had no issues. I love spicy.

Love spicy food and have no issues with it. Buffalo chicken is now one of my favorite go to meals.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
