Sleeve to Bypass revision

Recommended Posts

Hi all I'm new to the forum. Had gastric sleeve done in 2012 was 370lbs lost little over 100lbs. October 3, 2017 had revision to bypass due to acid reflux. Think I'm losing slow. Surgery weight 270lbs today 245lbs just about 8 weeks out. Anyone else have revision or surgery around October 3rd.

I had a revision to RNY because of severe acid reflux and erosion of the esophagus. Surgery date was 12/6/201lbs. Today 190lbs.. I was told by my doctor to expect to lose about 40% excess weight so time will tell.

Best of success to both of you! I'm heading toward a conversion from sleeve to bypass next month, and my nerves are finally starting to set in. I've got my first "holy smokes, this is really going to happen" pre-op appointment on January 3rd, so I'm trying to stay calm and focused. I get super nervous regarding surgeries, needles, blood, anesthesia, and hospitals. LOL!

I've been wondering how my weight loss will play out after the conversion - I've heard it's much less weight and also slower than an initial surgery. I was a very slow loser with the sleeve, but it still went decently, and I don't regret that surgery at all. I just had/have such a mountain of weight to lose, that this next step is required for me to reach goal. This time, I will be on a 1-month liquid diet post-op. With my sleeve surgery it was a 2-week liquid diet post op, and I lost 22 pounds right out of the gate. I'm working to keep expectations low, but I will say that I'm hoping for a nice bit of weight to come off in that first month. I am definitely am not looking forward to a full 30 days of liquids only - it's such hell. But once I move to soft foods, it's back to the hard work of reaching my goal! That's the exciting part, for sure.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
