Do you have take out/Fast food?

Recommended Posts

We get take out or go out to eat about once a week. I just make sure to eat a reasonably small amount and make smart choices. I had part of a Runza sandwich the other day - I enjoyed it, and I definitely didn't eat all of it. I'll probably eat some leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

For me, that works. Fast food/take out was never a huge issue for me, though. :)

I eat fast food for lunch a lot. chipotle a lot. or get a lettuce wrapped burger and eat a portion of it. I go to taco bell, panda express I get teriyaki chicken - no sauce and steamed veggies , when I go to restaurant's I get a medium rare steak and end up losing weight the next day lol I guess these may be bad habits but I get my Protein in and enjoy myself. I've lost 49 lbs, I'll be 5 months post up in 9 days... I'm averaging 10lb loss a month - 50 lbs in 5 months seems good to me...it could probably be more if I ate a little better and worked out more but i'm happy.

Rarely. Twice I've had a few bites of Wendy's Chili and it was good and went down well. Usually I plan better just because there are so few good options, I won't be able to eat but a few bites of anything, and because that isn't what I want to feed my pouch. :)

We eat out usually 2 times per week, either sit down or fast food, because my life is crazy right now with my kids extra curriculars and holiday stuff going on.

In terms of fast food, we don't have a lot of options here (McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, Taco Bell, A&W, KFC, Subway and Popeyes). Usually we do Wendy's if we get fast food and I will get a chili or a single burger with no bun. They will put it in a container for you and you can get toppings on the side so I will add cheese and a little ketchup with onion, lettuce and Tomato. Also Subway is another popular one for us, I get a chopped salad with double meat. I will also occasionally get a grilled chicken, no bun, from McDs or spicy tenders from Popeyes with Corn as my side.

When we eat out at sit down restaurants it's usually diners so I just look for items that are high Protein and lower carb (though I'm allowed up to 100 grams a day) and substitute veggies for fries or just get no side and steal a few of my kids fries because I can only eat like 3.

Rarely. All I get is a four piece nugget from Wendy's. Everything else just seems pointless or gross now.

If it has too much breading I don't even want it. If it's greasy, I don't want it. Lol

We really try not to, but it is hard with all the stress that life gives you. I want to get away from it, but these last few weeks we have probably had it twice a week. I only eat one mcdonalds burger instead of the 8 I used to eat before getting sleeved. Like others have said, I know they are better choices to be made but it is what it is.

I plan on eating an egg mcmuffin again when i'm able. Ok, half an egg mcmuffin. I doubt I'll be able to do much better than that. I LOVE me an egg McMuffin.

290 calories.....16 grams of Protein.

So, half would be.... 145 calories and 8 grams of protein and 15 carbs.

Not too bad for a treat I love once in a while. With a big ole Decaf coffee...that could be a really good Breakfast on the go.

Also...at KFC...eating a breast without the skin isn't that bad. But yeah...ya gotta pitch the tasty crunchy stuff

130 calories.... 29 whopping grams of protein...2grams of fat

I'm not a big skin eater. I've tried this and I like it. The skin was never my love affair.

That said.....Beware the cole slaw....sugar city! I love it, but will not order it.

I've had Chinese take out a few times now. I order the tofu with mixed vegetable steamed with the sauce on the side. It works into my plan and makes my boyfriend happy because he loves Chinese food.< br>

As others have said, I do Wendy's Chili. I am almost 3 months post op, I can not eat an entire small (it is at least 2 meals to me). Anywhere else I will order a burger/grilled chicken sandwich without the bun (dry) and ask for mustard. If it comes with bacon I will eat the bacon. I do Buffalo Wild Wings (traditional on bone) hot/medium or lemon pepper (now that I eat so little, I have added other flavors that have some sugar in the sauce).

It is too early for me to eat salads (raw fruit or veggies), so will change over time.

I find it easier to ask for it without the bun. They usually put it in a hard plastic container and are used to people asking for it this way (for those who watch carbs or for those who order it this way for their dogs).

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
