To anyone getting sleeved on or around December 5th

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to say publicly that I'd welcome message exchanges with anyone going through this around the same time I am next week:)

Want to let someone know how it's going? Bored in your hospital room? Want to compare notes? Want to vent about this crazy process? Message me! I'd love to hear from you.

Just click my user name "Creekimp13" (in blue type to the left of this post)

Then, when you get to my page, right at the top of the page in the middle (under where is says Bariatric Pal) is a blue box that says message. There ya go:)

Might take me a bit, but I promise to respond to all messages.

Wishing you all a safe surgery and an excellent outcome!

Hi I’m new my surgery date is December 5th also. I’m happy and scared at the same time. I don’t have to do a pre opt diet. I have to drink Clear Liquids the day before surgery, but I’m continuing to watch my food intake. Be blessed everyone and good luck to us ALL we got this[emoji3]

I'm having surgery on the 4th. I'm finally nervous about it. I think it's the right thing for me, and hopefully it will help me solve my lifelong yo-yo situation (exactly how many times can a person lose the same 50 or 60 lbs??). But.... I'm afraid nonetheless - of the surgery itself, of the recovery, of having unexpected, grim, life-long issues that I do not currently have, etc. Ugh. I want it to be over and done!!

I got my surgery on the 28th and I’ve been up and down in my weight for years as well. As Lon as you follow everything pre op and have a good support system for your post op it’ll be worth it.

I got a call this morning telling me what time to report to the hospital on Monday morning for the surgery. 7:30 am !! ! It feels really weird and surreal. I'm excited but also strangely calm about it. I think it is because this has been such a long journey this year. I went to my first surgeons's consult on Jan 27th 2017 and I'm finally ending 2017 with my surgery in Dec. I've read so many books, and posts, and watched so many Youtube videos about everything. I feel prepared . I'm ready for this change. 2018 is going to be about a healthier , more active me. I can't wait.

I made it through yesterday! I unfortuntely wokeup at 4 am with a Migraine which wasnt how I wanted to start the day.7 :30 am Pre op went good. I woke after surgery throwing up but I was so out of it that it didnt hurt. I slept off and on until about 5 pm. Then everytime they gave me pain meds I was dry heaving ... which was the absolute worst. They finally figured out at 1 am that they needed to change my pain meds to something else. I was up and walking at 2am and was getting around pretty good. Slept on and off until 7 am. I had my Barium swallow and everything was good. I finally got some broth to eat. I should be discharged within an hour or two. I hope everyone has a smooth surgery and a better post op experience than I had. That nausea kicked my butt. Good luck to everyone.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
