I know the surgery effects everyone differently, but I'm 3 days post op and not feeling any of the reduced hunger benefits. I'm on an antacid (though it's not a PPI) and drinking Water. But I am starving. Is there anything else I should be doing? Why am I hungry?

Absolutely, the more Protein that you get in the less hungry that you will feel. My surgeon wanted us to get in between 60-80 grams of protein per day. At first it was hard to get in, but then I switched to Protein Shakes that had at least 25 grams of protein. Protein will be the key in managing your hunger, even once you are past your liquid phase protein will be the key to keeping hunger far away.

I was starving the morning after surgery. I am about 10 weeks out and still hungry often.

Following.

Three days post op and I feel like I'm starving. Yesterday I was able to get down 1 Protein Shake, 1/2 cup chicken Bone Broth, 1 tsp chocolate sugarfree pudding mixed with 1 tsp non fat ricotta cheese, 1 tablespoon Greek yogurt, 1 sugarfree popsicle, and about 1 - 20 oz bottle of water. I also walked about 3 miles.

I feel like I have done nothing but eat and drink constantly. I'm exhausted from thinking about what I need to eat and when. I went to sleep last night asking myself what the heck I have done to myself.

I have lost 10 pounds since Monday through this morning (Saturday) (6-days).

I hope a day comes when I don't feel like I'm starving to death.

Try increasing your Protein Shakes from 1 to 2. Also try increasing your Water. I noticed that when I drink more water, I am less hungry.

Thanks. I did that today and it was much better! I survived the day without feeling like I was starving! [emoji5]️

I have to have Protein Shakes if I feel hungry. I thought I was starving when I could only have Clear Liquids but now that I’m on full liquids the shakes really help.

I woke up from my surgery (Oct 27th) starving and thru the pain and all i still remain hungry! Im having a hard time drinking enough Water as it hurts to swallow it. 1 liter is the most i have been able to tolerate. Yesterday i soft scrambled an egg and let it soak in low sodium beef broth. I chewed it to death for over an hour (scared to eat it) and eventually ate the entire thing...still no relief. The Protein Shakes are not helping, the antacids are not helping, but today i switched to Vitamin water and it's easier to get down so im hoping that will help...Best of luck and please let me know if you find the cure!

Maybe a stronger antacid would help? I'm on an H2 blocker, but maybe a PPI would be better? I guess I'll have to ask my doctor.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
