Stool softeners and constipation help

Recommended Posts

I was told by my surgeon to take stool softeners every day. I do not want my body to depend on them as they are starting to to lose there effectiveness and I’m struggling to go to the bathroom. Not sure what to do any advice is needed.

I take Milk of Magnesia nearly every day. The days that I don't, are not pleasant.

I'm not wild about needing it every day. But I realize I'm not able to get enough Fiber and I need it right now. Hopefully I'll be able to get enough fiber in my diet soon and will be able to wean myself off of it.

It's been one of the only negative aspects of this journey.

Get some Benefiber, found in pharmacy area at Wal-Mart mart and add it to your Water bottles. This give you fiber and is tasteless. Im 2weeks post op and have been dealing with Constipation and the doctor told me this trick and have been doing great ever since. Hope this helps.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
