Hi Dale,

At three years our, what has been your biggest challenge? Has your weight loss been slow as you get further out from surgery?

My biggest challenge was alcohol. Once I started, I went too far. I recently quit & don't miss it.

As time has gone on, my weight loss slowed, stopped, & I gained some back. I'm actively working to change that.

Will I have to take Miralax or some other anti Constipation meds forever?

No. The only things you need to do forever is breathe & pay taxes.

How possible is it to overeat with a sleeved stomach? Has it stretched out or you’re eating constantly?

just reminds me an anecdote "I’m eating once a day - start early in the morning and till late night..." ;)

Hi! First off... congrats!!! Three years is awesome. I’m five days out and I’m feeling great. Almost too good. Lol.

I’m hungry and I’ve had no problems with any liquids.. so today, I decided to try a piece of soft cheese and then some cottage cheese. Again, no issues at all. Also had a super small bite of a cracker that I let melt in my mouth. (Did that out of curiosity honestly cause everyone seems to have such issues with Water and food.) The only thing is... i don’t feel full. I could eat more but I’m not because I’m trying to stay on mostly liquids since I’m not even supposed to have the mushy stuff until Wednesday. Just wondering if this is normal? Im a little concerned that maybe it’s not working as well as it’s suppsed to? Or will things change once I’m on all solids?

It's possible, but it hurts. You'd have to really work to keep shoving food in past the point of fullness. It's not something I do.

Thank you. Congratulations on your surgery! What you're experiencing now will change. And then it'll change again. And again. You don't feel full now? You most likely will. Pay attention to what your body tells you.

Hang around this forum long enough & you'll find SO MANY people who, because other weight-loss approaches haven't worked for them in the past, believe surgery won't work either. It will. But first you have to believe it.

Good luck. You are not alone.

Something to be aware of.

Reality is with any bariatric procedure, you will gain weight by eating "around your surgery"

It's easy to eat several small meals throughout your day/night with no effect on feeling restriction pain. Grazing food will/can increase caloric intake and cause significant weight gain.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
