Stay on top of the Dr. It maybe in the front office waiting to be faxed or waiting for the Dr's signature, hard to say, but stay on them. I have had to fight my insurance on 1 issue (a test) and push my Dr to rest my date as well.

what was the out come did your get it squared away?

they have submitted the paperwork for the hernia removal, which was approved by the insurance but I have not seen anything from my insurance on the WLS. I have an appointment tomorrow for my CPAP follow up so I am going to have a face to face with them. It's not my insurance, it's the doctor's office, in particular the program director who is giving me the impression that since every little check mark on her list has not been met, she doesn't want to submit my paperwork.

My doctor told me up front if I gain any weight at all during the nutrition trial I would not be allowed to have surgery until that weight was lost. My insurance company has been known to deny people for gaining weight so we had to be super careful. I’m sorry that happened, I hope it goes down before your next appt and you get a quick approval 🤞🏼

True, but it doesn't seem like insurance is the issue, but her program. Her BMI is over 40, most insurance doesn't require you to jump through a lot of hoops with that kind of BMI.

My BMI was higher than that and I had 8 months of hoops for my insurance.

My paperwork for the surgery has been submitted:D, now I 'm just waiting on approval from the insurance company. My follow up appointment for CPAP went well, I don't have to go back for another year. So now it's the wait and see game for me and now it looks like surgery will be in November (depending approval) instead of October since I still have to do the pre-op liquid diet for 10 days prior to surgery. Thanks everyone for the encouragement and listening to me rant and rave.

Insurance required the 6 months diet and nothing is mentioning about gaining any weight, it's the surgeon I believe that wants the weight loss. I just had a planned timeline of how this would flow with my work schedule and this throws a monkey wrench in them. I'm going to stay on them. I mean I still have to do the pre-op liquid diet before the surgery but I can't start that until I get a surgery date, can't get a date until paperwork is submitted.

I have come to realize from being on this site that every surgeon is different. I have gained 20lbs since my consult to now which has been 10 months total, 6 of which was my 6 month diet (which didn't work for me) and then three months of sending requested paper work from my doctors office to the insurance company and the review time it took). At any rate, I went in for my pre-op appt yesterday and the surgeon never mentioned a word about my weight gain. As long as insurance approved it, he is good to go. It's a shame some surgeons are such a pain when it comes to this.

Status update: Well I just checked online with my insurance and I have been approved for both the sleeve and hernia repair :D. Now I am waiting on the doctor's office to call with a surgery date and all of the pre-op requirements. OMG, I had planned my timeline of an Oct. surgery and now it will be November hopefully which is causing me to re-arrange in my mind my whole recovery timeline. I wanted to be able to go to a particular NFL game in December but I may not be able to travel nor travel over seas for work in December.(bummer) I'm so ready to have this surgery so I can start the recovery process.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
