Hey there! I was just wondering how soon after surgery people were able to do yoga? I haven't received great guidance on exercise from my surgeon (will be following up tomorrow) but in the meantime was wondering what people thought. If not yoga, when did you get back into exercise (besides walking)? Thanks!

I am almost three weeks post op and I feel like I am ready to exercise but my surgeon never really said when I could. I have been walking every day since I have been home.

I had surgery on a Tuesday. Was out of the hospital on Wednesday. On Saturday, I was at the Y riding a recumbent bike for an hour. Slowly, but riding. By 3 weeks out, I was cleared to swim. Between then, I had started lifting lighter weights (nothing more than 25 pounds) and doing at least 30 minutes of cardio a day - usually recumbent bike because it was easy on my knees.

I was told I should walk a lot, but was cleared for all types of exercise at 3 weeks. Remember you have wounds on the inside as well, and they need to heal. Max amount of weight to lift before the 3 weeks was 10 lbs. You might feel great, but it's a huge change for your body.

My surgeon ordered walking 3x per day starting in the hospital. Anything above that he said to wait 4 weeks.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
