I'll admit that it's one of my favorite channels to watch--but I think it's as much about the competition as the food. Watching Chopped right now, while having my two-week pre-op plan lean dinner: salad, tunafish, roasted cauliflower.

But I know what works for me isn't going to work for everyone!

I laughed when I read this. When I was first at home recovering I could do nothing but watch this channel! Long story short I had a rough revision to ds.. many months of almost nothing to eat. Fast forward 5 years and all is well.. including my cooking skills [emoji4]

I have been obsessed with the Great British Bakeoff since my surgery 2 months ago. OMG my mouth waters some days. !!!!!!!

To be honest, I don't have any issues when it comes to cooking shows, but being new to the "Losers Bench" , I can understand your need to want to stay away.

@Laggy - I love that show so much, you have no idea. I binged on that show when they brought it to Netflix, have you checked out The Chef's Table?! MY GOODNESSSSSSSSS <3

@heycrystal2052 Is Chef's Table the show where each episode is about a famous chef? If so, I'm watching that on Netflix right now and it's the bomb!!

@mch080208 - I have to be full to watch the food Channel. LOL! Cheers!

I love the food network and cooking channel. Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives is my favorite show. I love how they show you the recipes of different types of food. There are ways to doctor up most of the recipes to make them healthier as well. If I felt that it would sabotage my progress on this journey, I definitely would not watch though. Definitely not worth it.

My take on this is I try to limit my time spent on food exposures. That is:
The grocery store , (not many restaurants), hardly any food shows, no perusing cookbooks for fun....(occasionally a wls friendly food prep on here)

It seems to be a technique that has helped me the past 10 years post op.
I could not believe the time and energy and money spent pre op on thinking about food, shopping, preparing , serving , cleaning.... and repeat .
It appears that some of us post op have a sort of laundry list of items and meals that work to keep our weight in check....
Still maintaining, and I still have be a bit vigilant about my habits.... but this life is easier 90 lbs lighter!!

@FluffyChix YES, that show, it's so wonderful!

To be honest, I don't have an issue w/ being surrounded by food. I've gone to a bakery full of my favorites and w/ discipline, I've always maintained a great deal of restraint. I understand, however, it's not that easy for us all.

I'm really hoping after surgery that being able to normally interact with food will be part of my outcome. I know the surgeon said it "may" or "may not" happen. I'm guessing she was inferring the whole chromosome 13 thing without really saying it? You are SO lucky to get to do this now. I bet you have the chromosome 13 thing!

I just watched the show on Grant Atchaz. Did you see that one? Oh, and I saw one episode of the French one. It's so well done!!

Love it! We binge watch soooo much. *snort* I am trying to use these kinda like "desserts" so it doesn't lead me into the valley of "ohtohellwithitlet'seatsomethingyummay!". LOL. Don't you love how the photography looks so much like art? These guys are such geniuses. No wonder they have Michelin stars and successful restaurants! Right?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
