I have an idea of the things to bring for my stay in the hospital but I'm sure I haven't thought of everything. What in your experience was something you wish you had brought, or were grateful you did bring?

A friend of mine gave me some great lip balm in a little gift before surgery. With the dry mouth and lips- it was a real life saver. Also had some great smelling coconut lotion my hubby put on my legs and feet to help me feel human. Other than a change of clothes for home, I didn't use a single other thing I brought (never even showered there) except for my phone charger. I only stayed overnight.

I used nothing that I brought apart from my hairbrush and extension cord for my phone charger. Everything else I just never cared about using or they provided for me, so I just used theirs. I also didn't shower there. Back home in 2 days!

I was really happy I brought some pre-moistened facial wipes. They were cooling and made me feel just a little fresher. Only other things I used were phone and headphones to listen to music.

I brought my own long bathrobe which was great for walking the halls post-op (to throw over the peek-a-boo butt gown!). Make sure the sleeves are loose enough because you'll have an IV. Didn't have any problems with mine. I also brought my slip-on crocs so I didn't have to walk in socks everywhere. Both were a lifesaver. I agree with others on the lip balm! Very glad I had that, too.

I brought my own robe for walking and also dry Shampoo because my hair gets really gross really fast. I spent two nights and on the third morning I did actually shower and was glad I had a small thing of soap and shampoo.

I way overpacked!

I wore a second robe backwards so didn't need a robe.

Used my phone charger, my own pillow and chapstick.

Just a note--check because my hospital wouldn't let me use ANYTHING like dry mouth spray, lozenges, gas strips, NOTHING that wasn't provided by them or prescribed by my doctor. They did provide those things when asked. But mine stayed packed.

The extension cord for my phone... And comfy loose clothes and a wireless bra. The chapstick. I did bring those things and a heating pad and blanket but the hospital wouldn't let me use it. They had an alternative to that but I didn't have enough strength to activate it. I never used the blanket I bought because I didn't feel like moving to get it, let alone walk around. The only thing I wish I had back then was unlimited data because their WiFi sucked.

My opp was a week ago and there is no way to say this in a pretty way, so here it comes: You will be very grateful if you bring baby wipes with you.( I never expected a constant diarrhea but it went on for about 6 days.)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
