JULY SLEEVERS- How are you doing?

Recommended Posts

Hi.
Try chewing each bite 32 times. I actually put the fork/ spoon down after each bite. The slower I eat the more full I get and less uncomfortable. Sometimes when I feel hungry I focus on my fluids instead (drinking it).
I really try to remember why I'm in this process to begin with, and talk to myself about not going back to square one in 2 years.

Thanks for the advice. It's funny over the last several days, all of a sudden I find I can't eat as much as I was. And I'm no longer hungry right after eating like I was.

I have started to concentrate on chewing each bite at least 25 times. I also use the timer feature on my phone and time 30 seconds between bites. LOL

I just started week 4 and exercising again. I feel great but my weight loss has stalled, since I moved to purees. Is that normal, how to I break the stall?

Hi

I don't weigh myself at all. I don't even own a scale! I have been using old clothes to gauge how I'm doing. I don't compare myself to anyone else as my starting weight is not as much as others so rate of loss will be different. I'm female and 52+ so losing at a different rate.

Yesterday I wondered if I eating too much. I was feeling very hungry and had to take extra meal but still within 60-80 G Protein.
I reflected in what I did as to why I felt sooo hungry, and remembered eating something sweet on Sunday at a picnic and a little taste yesterday. So last night I decide not to sabotage myself and lay off sweets as I think it got my juices going and making me hungry.

I believe if I do the right things I will be great.

All the best. You can do it!

I was sleeved July 10. Feeling great, but I'm in the dreaded 3 week stall. I haven't lost an ounce in a week. I'm trying not to let it get me down because a lot of people experience this. *I will not complain. *I will not complain. *I will not complain.

How did your stall go? Any tips or methods you've used?

I upped my Protein a little bit and just stuck to my program. It's tough but at least it only lasted 7 days!

11 days post op (sleeved on 7/31). I have felt amazing over the last week. However, over the last 2 days, I am finding myself feeling short of breath when walking and my anxiety is starting to creep in. I am sweating like crazy, just walking through the store. I am weak and tired. I am not getting full Protein but still reaching about 55 grams a day and about 50 oz of Water. I am a worrier and so I am concerned that something might be wrong. Or else the estrogen and hormones are flowing. I have lost 17 lbs in 11 days. Total since Thanksgiving is 86 lbs. Please tell me others have experienced this as well. I have sent a message into my surgeons office and expect a response tomorrow. I don't have any stomach pain or anything. Just the shortness of breath, sweating and a little dizziness.

I was sleeved on July 26th. I didn't expect this jorney to be as smooth as it is. I had no gas pains, no nausea, only had to take 1 pain med after arriving home. I was a little weak while walking a few days after surgery. I'm still having problems drinking 64oz of fluids. I'm taking all Vitamins. No problems eating soft foods. I haven't return to work yet. I'll be going back on 8/24. I've loss 44lbs since I started this journey on April 28th. I have no regrets....absolutely best decision. I a truly blessed. Hope everyone is doing good as well.

Right???!!! I thought the three week stall was a myth. The Lochness monster of the WLS world, if you will. Then BAM! Three week stall, right on schedule.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
