BCBS TX - Approved

Recommended Posts

I am so excited!!! I was approved after one week. I have BCBS Texas TRS Activecare. It took about three months to gather my 5 year medical history and complete the 6 month diet. The insurance coordinator at my surgeon's office would not submit anything to BCBS until everything the ins. co. required was collected. She submitted everything on a Monday and by the following Monday I was approved.

I was really worried because my bmi is 37 and i have boarderline comordities and pcos but I guess it was enough for BCBS. Anyway, I just wanted to say that having this disussion site really helped my nerves. Good luck to everyone!

No surgery date yet, have a consult with the surgeon next week. I'm hoping to have surgery around Thanksgiving or Christmas so I don't have to take extra time off of work. Good luck to you on your 6 month diet.

Sandahlia, congrats!!

I'm BCBS TX myself, and I'm wondering what you used for your 6 mos. diet requirement? That's the part I'm nervous about, I'm not sure exactly what documentation I'm going to need.

Thanks, and again-what exciting news for you!:clap2:

LauraD, i followed a six month doctor supervised diet, basically a reduced calorie diet. I went to my doctor once a month for six months. The doctor took notes that I was following diet program, recorded my weight and measurements. I lost a few pounds at first and then regained (no big surprise.) BCBS goes by the bmi you are at when you start the diet program. Hope this info. helps.

The doctor did a biopsy of the polyps and everything turned out normal. I had to do the liquid diet the day before surgery and then about a week after. I called the doctor and he let me do the liquid for only one week instead of two weeks because I was so hungry. I did soft diet for one week and now i'm on to solids.

I will have my first fill in about a week and half. My doctor determined that I needed my first fill two weeks early (they usually wait 6 weeks but i'll mine at 4 weeks) because I'm so hungry. At my two week follow up, he said that if I could go home and eat a turkey sandwich without any feeling any limitations then I would need to have a fill.

My BMI has been between 39 and 37, I was approved at just under 38. How did your diagnostic appointment go?

I wish you the best of luck with everything!

After I left I spke with some that works in the insurance department and she said that there is no way that Blue Cross Blue Shield trs active care would approve me because 233 is my highest!! I"m going to save my money and go to Dr. Ortiz in Mexico. He is awesome!! He wrote the book lapband for life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
