I am 9 days post is starting yesterday I broke out in a rash covering my entire mid section. Little red itchy raised spots. Anyone else experience this? Only thing added to my pre/post liquid diet is a chewable Vitamin.

That doesn't sound good.

Shingles come to mind, but that wouldn't have anything to do with surgery.

Let us know what your doc says!

Yep, you are allergic to something. It could be the antiseptic they used to clean your abdomen, or one of the meds surrounding the surgery. I had exactly the same thing happen (showed up about 5 days postop). We blamed it on the antibiotic, but it's hard to say. I stopped taking the antibiotic, and the rash got better a few days later. I don't know if it would have gotten better anyway, or if it really was the antibiotic. *shrug*

You should let your doc know, either way, so they can help modify your meds, or watch and see.

@Cpeeps23

I had something similar after surgery. It was contact dermatitis and was a nightmare. The only thing that worked was: Prednicarbate Ointment 0.1%. It's a Rx. It saved me.

I had that too! Idk what it was. I used Body Shop nut butter and did a lot of scratching (gently). Drove me crazy though. No explanation was given to me.

I also have it, I believe it is a reaction to the glue that they used as a dressing. Better now but I am almost 2 weeks out

I had hives the third week post-surgery. We thought it was the ursodiol, so we stopped it for a few days. The hives did go away, but when I gradually added the ursodiol back, the hives never came back - so God knows what it was.

      I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
