Post-op Question - RNY Gastric Bypass was 7/13

Recommended Posts

Surgery went great. He found a hernia & repaired it. There was a lot of expected scar tissue since I had a lapband that was removed 4 years ago. Dr Nair said the scar tissue wasn't half as bad as he expected, so I got lucky. My question is about the JP tube drain. I've been stripping it, emptying the pouch a few times a day & measuring. But the pads around it get soaked through pretty fast. The drain Fluid is relatively clear at this point. Not so much blood in it anymore. There's no odd odor,. Skin looks good. No fever. Would the pads getting soaked be something to call the doctor about tomorrow? Or just wait till my Thursday follow up?

Hi - I had my gbp on 7/12. Lots of scar tissue from band in 2012 and earlier gall bladder surgery. I also have a jp tube. Emptying about 1 to 2x a day. At beginning, dressing around the entry point was a bit messy, but the dressing was changed prior to being discharged. Hasn't been a problem. There is still a small incision where the tubing enters, so doesn't seem unusual for some seepage to occur into the dressing.
But for peace of mind, wouldn't hurt to call doc. Good luck healing.
D.

Thx D. Appreciate the feedback. Looks like our bands were taken out a year apart.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
