Surgery on 7/5 - home now but feeling very weak

Recommended Posts

So my surgery was on 7/5 and according to my surgeon everything went perfect, did the leaking test and everything came out perfect. I'm home now, and I've been getting up and walking and trying to drink broth, Water and having sugar free Jello. Everything is measured to insure I'm having no more than 4-8 oz but no matter what I drink I feel nauseous, nothing comes up but the sensation is there. And ever time I breathe my stomach feels like it's bubbling, not sure what to make of this I just feel weak and trying to keep everything down. Has anyone else felt this way?

Yes, the first week it seemed like I felt liquid going through every part of my digestive tract. It thankfully gets easier and I'm only 11 days out myself. I was still in the hospital 2 days out, it felt like I'd never be able to swallow pills and I had so many to take, it was bad.

My surgeon gave me 3x daily meds to help with the spasms that give the bubbling feeling. Later I also got medication for nausea as that didn't hit me until about 5 days after. I felt constantly bloated/ gassy but not nauseous for the first few days. Walking the hospital hallways did honestly help the most for the gas and I had my boyfriend trying to burp me like an infant.

I'm only just starting to turn the corner - I feel your pain. It gets better, I promise

Had surgery same day as you. I am experiencing the same sensations. I am drinking clear Protein watered down so I won't get dehydrated . And just had 3 oz of protein. shake. Thank goodness for the small cups they give you from the hospital.

Hey everyone I was sleeved on the 3rd. Today is day 13....its so funny how we count the days. I'm able to drink 2 shakes a day, 24 oz of Water, 4 oz of cream of wheat, yogurt with a mashed banana was yesterday attempt and it gave me life. I pureed some beef stew with carrots and had only 3 spoons and was done. I can sleep on my stomach. However last night and right now I have aches all through my legs and lower back. Feel weak to walk.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
