Sleeve is on Wednesday the 28th

Recommended Posts

Just going through the 2 week liguid diet. Only allowed 4 Protein Drinks and Water. Getting through it. As of today down to 229 from 240 in 8 days. It's been rough the last 2 with being hungry. Switched my drinks to strawberry and chocolate and made it with my bullet with ice to make it like a shake. It's very good and helps to make it slower to drink. Fighting the allergies with being tired and soar throat, just took tylenol allergy for it. Need to get some energy back. Going to get the Vitamins Monday before surgery on Wednesday. Legs and feet are starting to feel less swollen from the weight loss Wich is good for me, I retain water alot. My everyday and thoughts revolves around this new chapter in my life. Health issues and comfort food are my biggest issues. Always been able to loose weight before I hit 40, just can't fight against serious medical issues to even walk comfortably and two ankle/foot surgeries already. Another after the sleeve. Everyone has issues and that is why we are all here. Not to cure them all but to have tools to help our struggles how ever we can for better quality of life. I call my self a pear with legs! Small up top and bottom heavy...and it's not my waist. Thighs, hips and ass! Never will be proportioned. I'm ok with that. Just this body now keeps my physical activities very limited. Glad to be on here. Hope to learn, and support others. Here is to my last 5 days before a new chapter of being healthy and staying that way. It's my life!

My surgery is also on 6/28. I'm allowed broth, sugar free jello/popcicles, and fruit juices right now. I've lost 15 lbs since 6/14, which is insane to me. No way I could've stuck with the pre-op diet if I didn't have the surgery looming as the finish line. Good luck to you!

Hello. It's exciting. I started my liquid diet on the 16th. Went from 240 to 233 in 9 days . So not to bad. I was supposed to only do a week's liquid diet on the 22nd but I gained a few pounds when I saw my surgeon so it wasn't quite a two week start. If I keep going at this rate I am hopping to loose more by Wednesday. Happy for you loosing 15 already that is great. Good luck to you too!

I'm in same situation! I only have to do one week of liquid diet, but I don't know if it's from detoxing or if I'm allergic to something in the shakes but I have had constant stomach issues ...almost like the symptoms they describe with dumping but this is preop

I have been ok with the shakes, I've been making them with ice in bullet. I got a some gas bubbles in my stomach so I think I drank to fast. I hate that feeling and know it's going to be horrible after surgery, worse with than the 5 incisions. Down another 3 pounds since last post. Really having a hard time with all the food smells cooking but I make it through. Have u bought any clothes for surgery when stomach is sore ? I will get some sundresses tomorrow. So looking forward to getting out of double diget expensive clothes. I actually enjoy shopping at our local sal-val when smaller. I can get an entire wardrobe for the price of one outfit at lane bryant. Chat later.

That is something to look forward to. No I don't have much clothing to wear after surgery and not quite sure how I want to go about getting clothes during the time I'm losing. What shake are you using ? How many grams of Protein?

Hello. I am strictly drinking premier, and only drinking propel Water. The shakes I've had that I like are vanilla, strawberry, banana and chocolate. I won't try the carmel. And I don't like coffee anything. So I will be really happy to have yogurt too. :)

Aren't the premier shakes ready made? How come you use your bullet?

My sleeve is tomorrow too! Freaking out a bit unfortunately. I've been craving pizza and mexican food. Do they make a pizza/burrito flavored Premier shake? If not, I smell a hole in the market.

Good luck tomorrow!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
