Last night, I could not warm up. My BONES hurt so bad, I was so cold. I took a hot shower and was literally shivering standing under the hot Water.

I used to be the "hot one" in my office where I work and now I keep my vent covered and a sweater on. The a/c is only set on 74 but I am just freezing! I go for my next dr. appt this Friday and I will ask but wondering if any of you veterans have already had this question?

That is a good question. I have felt very cold since my surgery as well. I have never remembered to ask the doctor. I am 3 months post op today. I too was always the hot one. Now I take a light coat or sweater everywhere with me. I have just related it to my weight loss and the changes my body is going through.

I have been cold since my surgery also. It must be a side effect to our new metabolism? I used to be the hot one in my house and now my hubby is complaining because I keep turning the ac off...

Yes - you are losing your insulation! I was always the warm one and going through my own personal summer all year round and now I always carry a sweater. I'm down 96 pounds and boy, does it make a difference.

Thyroid and hormones! It is not about losing insulation.

What do you mean when you say thyroid and hormones? Are you saying they are experiencing hypothyroidism?
I was cold the first three weeks but my TSH was .50 that's not hypothyroid. I'm confused.

My hypothyroidism is controlled with medication so I doubt it is that. Maybe hormones, either way My temperature control is different post op.

I asked my dr just this question!!

His answer was a simple one.

Think of all your excess weight like a coat. You have taken off your coat!!

I am 2.5 years post-op and no expert but I know that I am cold a lot still however I am finding it is not as often as this time last year. I honestly carry a hoodie or sweater every where I go now, I never use too.

I have also chatted with many other rny/sleeve ppl who say the same thing, some are much farther out from surgery then I am and some have never gotten past the cold where others have adjusted.

If you find you are cold and get in the shower to warm up put the plug in the tub and let the warm Water pool at your feet it will help to warm your feet and get the blood moving.

Cheers

I have no idea what causes it, but I went from cold to freezing all the time. My fat never kept me warm before the RNY surgery & the weight loss doesn't help. I've talked to several people that had WLS years ago & they still are cold. So I don't know if there is much hope of feeling warmer. I just bring a sweater or coat with me.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
