Hi everyone!

My insurance excludes Bariatric surgery, and I am researching self pay options in Mexico. My mom got sleeved this past September, and when I mentioned the possibility of going to Mexico for surgery she was hesitant. Her insurance covered her surgery here in Louisiana, so all she knows is the process she went through because her insurance forced her to jump through a million hoops.

My question to you is, did you have a PCP and/or nutritionist that you worked with Pre- and Post-Op? I can't imagine doctors not wanting to work with you, just because you opted to have surgery in Mexico.

Thanks!

My PCP has been involved and supportive. I worked with a nut pre op to break bad habits and know what to expect. Be careful with that. Make sure to pick one who works with bariatric surgical patients. Lots of misinformed badly educated nutritionists out there. Going to Mex for surgery (and dental, prescriptions, etc) is very common here in AZ. Get all your program/surgeon info so your dr. Has it and tell him you need his support.

If you can pay in Mexico you can afford Weightwise in Oklahoma City. You get the best pre and long term care! Physical therapist, nutritionist, advocate, classes and support group. My friend went to Mexico and mine was a thousand dollars more but she got sick almost died and only going to Weight Wise to my surgeon saved her. Most won't touch you if you have complications after Mexico surgery.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
