What to expect at 3 months?

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I'm coming up on my three month anniversary tomorrow, and curious to know if it's normal to start experiencing hunger pains? Also, when I eat I almost immediately get nauseous. Keep in mind that I've not introduced new, foreign, or non-bariatric foods either. I'm perplexed at best and hoping its just a temporary thing. Curious to know if anyone else has gone through this, or something similar. Thanks!

After my RNY gastric bypass surgery, I completely lost my hunger. This condition lasted for about a year and my hunger slowly returned. It was not as strong as before surgery.

I am 4 years post op and sometimes I experience nausea. This occurs when I eat too much. Generally I recognize the pretriggers to dumping and I stop eating in order to avoid dumping. Assuming that you are not eating too much, perhaps you are experiencing a stricture. Sometimes strictures will resolve on their own. Anyways, this might be a subject to discuss with your surgeon and their staff.

I had some hunger but I think a lot was just in my my head. I would eat and feel full on a couple bites. Anymore than that and yes, I was nauseous . I am 10months out. I don't get hungry as much as I feel like I should eat. I also feel really icky if I go too long without eating something. It takes a while

Sadly, my nausea occurs almost instantly after I eat. My intestines have been completely out of sorts, too. I see my surgeon Thursday for my three month check up and will see what he says then. Hopefully, it's just growing pains!

This is the first time post surgery that I've felt hunger pains. I try to monitor eating every three hours as directed by my dietitian. I had a huge workout yesterday and hope that didn't trigger things to feel this way. Ugh growing pains suck!

my hunger came back at five months out. I think it's different for everyone, but it's usually sometime within the first year (although for a few lucky people, it never comes back. Wish I would have been one of them!).

let your surgeon know about the nausea. It could be that you're introducing things too fast, or it could be that you have a stricture forming. Just let them know in case they suspect the latter. If that's what it is, it's an easy fix.

You are all so lucky. I got hunger back almost right away! I struggle with being really empty feeling...then overfull. I know what parts are cravings (which are bad too) but hunger is present. I don't know what to do.

I'm 3 mos. out and lost 40 lbs but that's after gaining a couple lbs back this past week. Any suggestions?

How many calories should I focus on and how often does everyone exercise. I walk for an hour/hour 1/2 5 times a week. I usually get over 10k steps.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
