I understand you very well. I was a low BMI when I was sleeved on May 15. I has spent the last 10 years going up and down my highest was 255. I had managed to get down to about 220 and was on my way up again when I started researching WLS.

I have an auto immune thyroid disorder and type 2 diabetes. Even with these co-morbidities my insurance would not cover the surgery so I went to Mexico to have it done. It was the best thing I have ever done for myself. I have no regrets. I have not been under 200 pounds in over 9 years and I am 194 today!

I think getting this done now before your body starts to break down is very smart. As long as you have done your research and are 100% ready to make the lifestyle changes that will be required, then I say go for it. Don't let the non-supportive people get into your head. Ignore them.

I am 5'5" BMI 35 and I plan to get it. Do what you want to do and don't feel ashamed! I have not always been big, I gained over 100 pounds during my last pregnancy in my 30s and I can't get rid of it. I am not the same person on the outside and I want my life back. I am sad, I have no energy, people treat me different, I am ashamed for getting so big. I have always dieted even when I was a size 7-10 laughable now, I wish I was there now lol. My husband thinks you have to be 300+ to have it and says if I just exercised... I HAVE NO ENERGY!!

Girl, i know the feeling. No I don't have kids yet but we have my fiances son every other week and considering my fiance goes into work early and gets off late, I get his son ready and get him to and from school around my 8-5 work schedule. Of course I don't mind at all but after the day is done I literally have no energy. I rarely eat during the day at work but when I get home we eat big. I feel like I have been stuck at this weight my entire life give or take 30 lbs. And you should definitely show your husband the research because according to the standard I believe anything over 28 BMI is considered overweight. Even if it's not a lot of extra weight, sometimes you just can't get it off without help. Of course the diet and exercise will still be necessary but you aren't having to kill yourself day in and day out to see results. I just want to be a happier, healthier, smaller version of me.

I think if you look at the forum so you will see that most people who successfully lost weight with the bariatric surgery wish they had done it sooner than later. I know I do. If you do a search for low BMI, you can get more information about other peoples experience. I didn't have my surgery until I was a whopping 320 pounds! Some people lose so much weight they think they've gotten too skinny! Laughs… I don't think I'll ever have to worry about that problem!

I know how you feel. I was questioning whether this was the right choice. I was scared and more so the closer I got. I know that the weight loss will help my co morbidities. I also want "a fresh start". If that makes sense. In a few years my youngest will be graduating high school, I'm going to be a grandma, I've got another year of grad school. I fell like losing the weight will help me feel better, have more energy, and increase my self esteem (which isn't horrible to begin with). I'd be happy asI am the rest of my life because of what I have but feel that this would help improve it. It's like a new chapter of my life will be starting and this is just part of it. I know my parents and husband would tell me they support me but I don't have to do this. I know they are just worried for me. Everyone at work was surprised also, they were like I don't think you need that. Well, I've made many changes over the years and have lost alot of weight from my highest. This will help me to reach my goal sooner rather than over another 10 years. Meantime the extra weight is just making my joints worse, etc. Cold feet are normal, I just had surgery 5/31. Just think about why you want to have it and I wrote it down so I could read it when I questioned whether to go through with it, even while laying in the bed waiting to go into surgery hearing my dad's voice in my head saying saying, its not too late to change your mind if you don't want to go through with this.

I had to gain 15 pounds to meet minimum bmi for insurance. Who cares what anyone thinks? I got tired of gaining and losing the same 30 pounds over and over and being 70 pounds overweight for 20 years.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
