I do not live in NY, however, Dr. Fielding co-authored a book with Kali Ali about lap band surgery. Great book Kali Ali had lap band surgery and talks about her experience.

Dr. Fielding had the lap surgery and has performed thousands of lap band surgeries! If I lived in NY I would go to NYU!

I'm scheduled for Nov. 9, 2008 with Dr. Fielding. My friend had hers done

2 months ago by Dr. Ren. The practice has an impeccable reputation. Dr. Fielding has the band himself. You will be in good, experienced hands. Dr. Fielding has done over 5,200 lap band placements (his words). There are a lot of NYU patients on the site, they seem very satisfied. Good luck to you!

I had my lapband placed by Dr. Ren on March 1, 2002. It will be my 6 year anniversary on March 1 - I can't believe it's been that long!

When I had my surgery done, it was only Dr. Ren in the practice. It's changed radically, as has the protocols they now use. But I can say that everyone in that practice is incredibly competent from the docs, to the nurse practitioner, to the office staff.

Would I do it again? Definitely. Would I go back to Dr. Ren? I wouldn't go anywhere else.

I am scheduled for my surgery on Novemebr 8th. Im am a bit OCD, so I researched this like a madman. everything I read and everyone I spoke to basically kept bringing me back to fielding and Ren. they are the best. nothing against other doctors, but from what i understand, they are Number 1 and 2 in the world.

I was hoping someone had this dr. besides me! he is a good dr. he just like to take things a little to slow for me. I ws banded yesterday and he didn't hardly fill my band at all. I really think he is to slow with this. I have been so hungry and a few people in the waiting room with me said that they were going to him twice a month because he was not giving them a big fill. Who wants to go to the dr. every two weeks? lets just do it right the first time and I'll see you in a month or two!

I researched the h3ll out of this topic... and I, too, selected Dr. Ren based on research + referral of several doctors + the # of bands that she had done. That she is "in network" was the icing on the cake.

I am sched for surgery on Monday. Please say a prayer for me 9and I will you).;)

Although some people have referred to NYU as a bariatric mill, it has been designated a center for excellence for this type of surgery, which is where you want to have the work done. I have spoken to several people who went to Dr. Ren and all of them said she was excellent.

like Ilene says, it does have the rep of being a kind of bariatric mill, and the last two times I've been there I have to wait out in the hall for an hour as there were no seats. that said, the care is excellent. i had my surgical consult with dr. ren this last week, and she was wonderful. i think it may have been the best, most respectful doctor's appointment i've ever had. i almost cried with gratitude at being treated like a human being!

I did loads of research, almost a years worth before I took the plunge. I was referred to Dr. Ren by my regular doctor. Then did the research and all roads came back to her. My mom was having some thoughts about the surgery and lives most of the time in Florida. Dr. Ren called her up to talk about the surgery, and I am 40 years old. So far, my experiences with her have been good. Now, just waiting for the surgery.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
