I'm having some persistent pain in my lower right abdomen, below and slightly to the right of my large incision (the big one of the four). The incision itself looks and feels normal and is pain free. It's healing up really well and at the same pace as my other incisions.

The pain is minimal while I'm in a relaxed position like on my back in bed (1 on a scale of 1 to 10), increases to a 2-3 while sitting down, and 7+ when I bend over, twist, or move to sit up or down.

No redness or noticeable swelling anywhere in the area. Pain feels similar in nature to a menstrual cramp, but it's constant and in a concentrated area about the "size" of the palm of my hand.

This has been ongoing for several days now. Any thoughts on what it could be? (Please note, I did leave a message with my doctor's office already - just waiting to hear back).

The exact same thing happened to me. The pain got so intense that I went to the ER. It was explained to be that there were a couple of internal stiches that can sometimes poke you from the inside while scar tissue is forming. After about a week or so the pain spontaneously vanished. Hang in there, it will get better!

your gallbladder is on your right side. If you still have yours and did not have any gallbladder testing prior to surgery it is something to consider. I woke up on post op day 4 with r sided pain waited a day, same pain next day, called my bariatric surgeon. Was told to go to the ER. Next morning had to have me gallbladder out.

Better safe than sorry

Yes, my surgeon's office does gallbladder imaging/testing before surgery and mine was good. I was also given a gallstone preventative to take for the 6 months post surgery. I think also my pain is a bit too low for the gallbladder - this is closer in line to my belly button than my ribs.

Lower right abdomen? Do you still have your appendix by any chance?

Yes, I do. Luckily no fever or vomiting, so it looks like it's a slightly less likely cause. (Though I have always been a little paranoid about it. Potentially deadly vestigial organs stress me out.)

If it continues I would have it checked out. When I had appendicitis, I had none of the symptoms except abdominal pain and it was more central than right sided. They actually ruled out appendicitis on their physical exam and then sent me for a CAT scan and it came back that it was in fact my appendix. Had it out about 5 hours later.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
