I've only told a few close family and friends about my surgery. Only 6 people know. I have not told anyone I work with. My manager knew I was having elective surgery but she didn't ask what I was having. I've currently got 4 weeks off from work. I know when I go back to work people will notice I've lost weight and will ask questions naturally. But I don't know what to say, I don't want to lie but I'm not ready to tell people about my surgery yet. Any advice?

Before surgery I told only a few people. The ones I told were the ones I wanted their opinions about the surgery and their support. After surgery if someone asks about my weight loss I say I'm eating healthier and moving more or I just tell them I had WLS. It's totally up to you.

I'm getting sleeved June 1st & ive only told my hubby, 2 family members & a friend. I didn't want any negative responses plus I'm a very private person. My plan is to tell anyone who asks upon my weight loss that I'm eating healthier. Last week I threw away ALL my Snacks & good at work so i told my employees that I was changing my eating habits and under the care of a nutritionist. Also because my BMI only 38 most would try to tell me I don't need WLS and I don't take judgement well.🙄

I told my husband and my father. Finally night before I told my mom (my parents are divorced), and my two children. I found there are two types of people. Supportive and those who are anything but supportive. Totally up to you it's your surgery, your choice.

Telling or not telling is each person's personal prerogative. As for me, I have told anyone and everyone about each aspect of my journey including the journey from the day I got started (six months before my surgery). It keeps me accountable, and I have managed to educate lots of people on the realities of WLS. I have never had one out-of-the-way thing said to me in 14 months.

Thanks guys. I know not everyone will be supportive of WLS. My dad didn't support me until a few days before my surgery. I guess it's easier for people to know and deal with the negative and positive comments as they come :/

I only told my best friend and definitely no one at work. I started losing weight months before surgery in preparation for WLS lifestyle changes so my post-op weight loss hasn't been associated with the surgery I had in April 2017.

I've told everyone that I work with, all my family and lots of my friends. I have not really shared it on Facebook. I have been blessed with an awesome supportive group of people

I'm currently going through a similar dilemma and I've decided to a)tell no one but my hubby about it beforehand and B) tell people about only if they get really inquisitive post-op. To each their own of course, but saying I am losing all that weight by exercise and diet alone doesn't seem fair to the millions of people who try again and again and again to lose this weight and fail. Maybe I'll inspire one other person to research this, who knows.

That's what i'm struggling with. I don't want to lie. I think i'll just be honest.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
