Am I Going to Feel Nauseated Forever?

Recommended Posts

I'm 3 weeks post op and still having to rely on my anti-nausea meds. Please tell me this goes away at some point. (I have a follow up with my surgeon next week, and I obviously plan to ask her about this, I just thought maybe someone out there who's further along can shed some light.)

You won't feel nauseous forever. There's nothing you'll feel forever. Good luck!

Are you taking a PPI like Prilosec? If not, you may want to ask your surgeon if that would be indicated for you.

Does your nausea occur all the time, right after eating, hours after eating, or when you're laying down? Try keeping track on when it occurs as that will be important data for your doc.

We were issue with Omeperazole, Buccastem (anti nausea dissolves in mouth) and enough painkillers that would make the local drug dealer envious.

I only use my omeperazole and I find it does everything needed for me as I'm not in pain.

Hope this gets better for you!

I was given Prilosec for 1 month and then nothing. I never had any nausea at all. My Vitamins are sublingual or chewable, I can take them all at once and again no nausea. It is amazing to me how different we all experience the same surgery. I also took no narcotic pain medication, just Tylenol. Three doses of IV Tylenol in the hospital and liquid Tylenol once I got home. I probably could have taken some but I didn't want it to stop me from getting up and moving. I am sure your nausea will subside soon... just hang in there

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
